Do you also have to feeling MPH hides your sickness' symptom? When I'm sick, if I take Ritalin at 8AM I feel less sick between 9AM and 5PM. I wouldn't be surprized it has that effect, it's a stimulant and adrenalin does the same. #adhd

Vous avez aussi l'impression que le MPH masque les symptômes de vos maladies ? Quand je suis malade, so je prends de la ritaline à 8h, je me sens mieux de 9h à 17h. Ça serait pas surprenant, c'est un stimulant et l'adrénaline a le même effet. #tdah

    I'm using fractional scaling on my laptop since two days now, it has a 13" 3840x2160 screen and I switched from 200% to 225%. I really like it overall. Sure it's a bit blurrier but at this resolution it's fine, I can barely see it, and everything is more legible, closer to the ideal size for such a device. GTK4 apps and Firefox perform really well! Other apps though (GTK 3 apps, Thunderbird, Signal, Discord, Obsidian) are annoyingly blurry. It's less blurry at 250%, but too large to my liking.

    Let me rephrase, is a huge pile of C code, running in privileged mode in a shared address space, highly concurrent, using its own homegrown memory model based on volatile instead of the one the language spec defines and the compilers implement, dealing with untrusted data, implementing many complex protocols, data formats, & functionality, managing a bunch of "objects" with complex ownership and lifetime semantics, embedding its own JIT — secure?

    @bugaevc Oh definitely, I'm not pretending it's a silver bullet. Do you have something specific in mind? Moving more services into userspace maybe? I've read microkernels tend to be super slow compared to modular ones like Linux because of all the cross-modes communication that has to be done.

    Feel free to ignore my questions BTW, I'm just scratching an itch, I have nothing to bring to the table as I don't know that much about kernels.

    "…where are these GODDAMNED KEYS?!"

    45 minutes later
    They were hanging in plain view, on the bike handlebar's brake lever. FML.

    When it's not keys, it's the f'ing smartphone. Notebook. Pen.
    This shit happens to me when I need to go out. Every. Single. Time.

    A lot of people in the Redis community are now learning about the difference between permissive and copy-left licenses.

    If you contribute code licensed with MIT or BSD, anyone can use that code in proprietary software, never release the source or modifications to it, and the only thing they owe you is publishing the BSD license text notice somewhere with the software. You still get attribution, but redis can absolutely legally do this.

    @vwbusguy It's a bit as if copyleft was an anti-enclosure mechanism, and CLAs were a way to circumvent it. Permissive as in permission to steal from the commons we happily shared until then. Who could have guessed the absence of anti enclosure mechanisms would lead to someone enclosing a common‽ 🙃
