But, at the end of the day both are #evil in that they destroy the #environment equally effectively. The China model does it through command and control efficiency gains. The American model through sheer profligacy.
@Air_Quotes_Comedian Thick because were all sitting around like sheep headed to the slaughter going baaad baaaad baaaaad without doing a thing about it.
Who thinks that when the economy seriously goes upside down and their assets are worth less than their debts on the assets(which it will soon enough due to Energy cost of Energy and no good oil replacement), people are just going to watch as the bank takes their homes from them?
Hmmm? Would you just watch yourself get put on the street?
There's a reason it's called the "thin blue line." It's fucking thin.
Perhaps we should start calling all us proles the #ThickAngryLine
Hmm. Let's see?
What can America do today if a crisis were to come along?
Finacialization won't help us survive a crisis.
Hollywood propaganda won't help.
The service industry is no big help.
Giant monocrops? Not likely.
Tons of cows and chickens, we got that going for us, but they're all locked up in CAFOs and stuffed full of antibiotics which, when the shit hits the fans will be giant pestilence corrals.
But because a few fucking piece of shit nazis agree with this self-obvious statement we can no longer have a productive discussion about it because all people want to talk about are the few fucking nazis who talked about it.
Can we please appreciate how wrong that is?
Can we appreciate how horribly rhetorical "point scoring" has damaged productive discourse?
@LeftistLawyer There isn't though? It has been shown how the Earth is perfectly cabable of providing for every human on it and more.
Is this toot an attempt to frame the valid critique of Malthusian brainworms as some kind of an overreach? What is this "point scoring" you refer to? Seems to me that the far more accepted position in this discourse for the average Westerner tends to sadly be the one that leads to ecofascist thinking.
I’m beginning to get the distinct impression that leftists who care about the environment enough to do actually get off their ass and do something about it are a miniscule minority.
Most seem more interested in virtue signaling their love for humanity while we fill our nest so full of shit our children drown in a boiling vat of it.
And honestly, I think the IDPOL cancel culture just has a lot of people too scared to speak out for fear of being labeled an eco-fascist.
It’s crazy.
There won’t be any people to love in a decade or two if we don’t get our environmental shit together. And it is going to hit the marginalized groups the hardest, first.
We don’t have the luxury of choosing our battles anymore people. We ALL have to be #Class warriors. We ALL have to be #SocialJustice Warriors. And, we ALL have to be #EnvironmentalWarriors
@LeftistLawyer I don't think that's fair. I probably do care about the environment. But for about 3 years now I have spent most my professional life operating against the US militia movement, which is it's own unique threat. I don't have the expertise -nor the bandwidth , quite frankly- to do anything environmentalish. The world I live in is pretty dark and I can barely maintain myself as is, I can't be adding more darkness. I'm not the only one that has made such a choice, there are people who are doing good work to fight bigotry, or educate children, or provide medical services to the impoverished, and just can't do much about the environment, not because they don't care, but because they just can't. You're an environmental lawyer so you are especially sensitive to the lack of action, and I get that (I often have to remind myself that not everyone who doesn't work against right wing DVEs are cowards although it feels that way) but you should try to separate the ones who do good in the world on by working on other issues from the ones that don't do anything good at all.
@LeftistLawyer@MobiusBlack I don't know how, but somehow we need to work together, to co-ordinate better, so that we can realise all our collective goals from ending poverty and racism to preserving a habitable environment.
@LeftistLawyer sorry, mate: you can't use the language of eugenicist and murderiously racist colonialist movements and dismiss their history with a wave of your hand which is exactly what you are doing.
If the human race survives the insanity that is neoclassical #economics, our progeny are going to look back and laaauuuggghhh 🤣 at the stupidity of basing our economy on infinite growth in a finite system.
@LeftistLawyer I know of several instances of infinite growth in a finite system...Alamagordo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Bikini Atoll, Johnson Island, Nevada Test Range, Starfish Prime, ...
I think anyone following me knows I have serious problems with the field of #economics. It's little more than post hoc rationalizations for #power masquerading as #science
Well #AngusDeaton just dropped a shit bomb all over his fellow money priests.
