That’s because TikTok’s goal wasn’t making money…

@flexghost I had to delete the app the other day. The algorithm latched on to my OCD which led to many panic attacks. It was a good platform, with very informative content, but lately it favored ‘shocking’ videos over information.

"What prepares men for totalitarian domination in the non-totalitarian world is the fact that loneliness, once a borderline experience usually suffered in certain marginal social conditions like old age, has become an everyday experience …"

@strypey Goddamn, that was the most intense article I’ve read in a long time. I have her ‘Banality of Evil’ book at home and was quite familiar with her work, but this was the next piece in the puzzle and it left me feeling deeply pensive. I gotta stop reading such heavy articles first thing when I wake up, haha.

I just finished reading this amazing book, ‘Amusing Ourselves to Death’ by Neil Postman that compares both Orwell’s 1984 with Huxley’s Brave New World. His conclusion from the beginning was that Huxley was correct in his prediction of the future and that television is the driving force to make people to be more and more uneducated. This short book was written in 1985 and yet, still stands the test of time. @bookstodon
