Enough already! So tired of these stories about Dem voters wanting a younger candidate. The reality check:
“Any discussion of an alternative is little more than a fantasy, they say, since challenging Mr. Biden would not only appear disloyal but would also most likely fail — and potentially weaken the president’s general-election standing.”

Tony Bennett was thrilled as a young G.I. In WWII Germany when he ran into a high school friend, also in uniform. Rabid, institutional racism turned their reunion into a horror show that he never forgot.

Excellent piece calls for the NYT and other “marquee” news media to face up to journalistically wrong handling of the Clinton emails story.

Why do MAGA politicians want to cut Ukraine off?
“Whatever Republican hard-liners may say, they want Putin to win. They view the Putin regime’s cruelty and repression as admirable features that America should emulate. They support a wannabe dictator at home and are sympathetic to actual dictators abroad….People claiming to be worried about the cost don’t really care about the money. What they are, basically, is enemies of democracy, both abroad and at home.” https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/02/opinion/columnists/maga-republicans-ukraine.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

“Even if his opponents must ultimately defeat him at the ballot box, it would have been untenable for the legal system to stay quiet in the face of an effort to put an end to the American experiment in republican self-government. Trump is the only president in the history of the United States to try to nullify an election and prevent the peaceful transfer of power.”
Now get rid of the undemocratic quirks he used, like the Electoral College, argues Jamelle Bouie. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/04/opinion/trump-indictment-jeffrey-clark-insurrection-act.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

A story that was stupid from the get-go and then executed in a deplorable way. News flash to the NYT: jurors have to swear that they can base their decision only on the evidence presented. These random voters would mostly be eliminated for cause if they voiced similar convictions. Quoting a handful of mostly Fox-addled Floridians as a measure of what the Trump jury might be just reinforces GOP claims that it’s all political. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/12/us/trump-voters-florida-jury.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

“There is no differentiation between targets,” he said. “The paramedics themselves are targeted.”

The United Nations said that since Saturday, nine ambulances had been hit in Gaza and 13 attacks on health care facilities had been reported. Gaza’s Health Ministry accused Israel of systematically targeting ambulances.

An Israeli military spokesman did not respond to questions about whether the military was targeting ambulances.
