I got a bunch of writing and talks finished this week but honestly the major accomplishment is that I now have 2 children that can swim in deep water. 🏊‍♀️ We have been going to the pool every Saturday for nearly a year and it felt like it would never happen.

(The toddler still can’t swim; I am kind of envious of people who can attend those infant backfloating rescue classes every single day.)

🧵 I wrote ab the “is Signal secure?” manufactroversy on X. The Guardian wanted an explainer on why Elon & Jack were “concerned” about Signal. The answer, though, has nothing to do w/Signal’s product. It was part of an extended fight over whether woke NPR should be defunded & the CEO fired. Why? Because the CEO of NPR is on the board of Signal; by the Transitive Property of Bad People, Signal is thus compromised.

My 9yo son gets to choose an instrument at school this year. He’s trying to decide between band and orchestra, and between trumpet and bass. What instruments are actually good for kids to pick up, with an easy enough learning curve that they don’t feel discouraged? (I’ve played piano forever and so does his sister but the mechanics of that seem a lot simpler to me…)

The deniers& their influencer propagandists run smear campaigns targeting election workers and researchers, fabricating an alternate reality, to ensure they are able to act unopposed in 2024. Somehow I got on the text list for RFK Jr - not sure what sold my phone number to that clown show. I made a trolly comment and assumed they would boot me — instead this text volunteer started sharing anti-vax lit and encouraging me to ‘do my research’ as a parent. Which meant, to watch The Brady Bunch.

The whole campaign is a LARP masking his single-issue jeremiad.

Matt Taibbi has now gone on the Hill TV and claimed that my work is sponsored by DHS and State (it is not), so my calls to use section 230 to “bring these companies to heel” were an “overt threat” (I said no such thing; he lied about this below). CHD is quoting the appearance for their audience. This repetition is how they launder their lies into reality for their followers.

Matt Taibbi is currently having a multi-day meltdown over the extent to which his Twitter Files conspiracy theory was destroyed in SCOTUS oral arguments Monday. And in keeping with his deception over the last year, he deliberately misquoted and lied about me again.

First image is Matt’s post. Second is what I actually said. I was literally expressing the opposite point of view - that CDA 230 is not a fix for misinformation and it’s a waste of time when Govt tries to use it that way.

Last week Twitter Files substack blogger Paul Thacker was back in my inbox, wanting to speak to the manager. Paul, if you didn’t send me stupid emails, I wouldn’t post them to the internet.

Here are excerpts from the latest bad faith media inquiry from the Bullshit Industrial Complex, shared to explain how it works. This man -a notorious hack- claimed to have “whistleblower” docs showing that I secretly ran election interference ops, particularly for the U.S. Dept of Defense.

This is a lie.

This whistleblower has also said that New Knowledge won an award from the DoD to create automated disinformation for elections. Again, you have denied such involvement in election disinformation and have tried to portray yourself as an actual expert on detecting disinformation--not creating it.
