I wanted to ask if the author was male because it’s not a surprise to any women I know.

I submitted various pieces of my work for analysis once. They were looking for female and male authored text to analyze to see how they could discern differences.

Every piece of mine came back as male authored.

Yearning for one’s early home as a means of reconnecting with your previous selves, among other reasons.

Ambivalence about it if you physically visit it, sometimes.

Very different reactions for different people.

Mom and I lived with her Mom for years.

I went back for weekends and vacations whenever I could. Grandma died when I was 17.

I dream of her home all of the time.

I’ve no idea but with the sort of person they were, with the sort that hung around that house, ultimately nothing good will come of it.
Trunks full of heavy drugs coming in from NYC, guns, ammo, vicious dogs.

After thinking about it for a number of years I really think they poisoned my dog, who was four, very healthy, and she died of liver failure during the course of a month.

It used to be that I posted a selfie and nobody gave a shit. I’d maybe get a couple likes. Now I’m used to get a certain amount of likes and comments and it’s kind of a problem, because if I post something and it doesn’t “perform” then I start thinking like “Did I look fat? Is it because my boobs are small? I shouldn’t post photos without makeup”. It’s dangerous. I can’t expect every photo to do numbers. I’m a person not a brand.

It dawns on me:

While Coursera wears a mask of academia, all the quizzes & tests are softballs because they don't want to fail anyone. They're selling a product, which is this cert, and they want everyone to pass so as customers we have a Positive Experience and go back to buy another cert.

I just have to get to the end of it. I'm at no risk of failing. There's no academic rigor to this at all, because capitalism.

Fellow people who are still genuinely , particularly those who are also single, live alone, and have basically lost your entire (already small) social circle over the last few years because no one else is taking any precautions anymore (...just me?).....: How are you keeping life worth living these days? There are many good suggestions here.

I wear my mask so much I forget I have it on outside very frequently.

It’s also bright pink, so everyone notices!

It’s been hard for us, my husband and me.

I’m safe at home with visitors with our level of air filtration, but I always mask out.

Restaurants are a thing of the past. Take out picnics, maybe.

Thankfully the family loves being outside, so we do that.

No one we know masks. My daughter still doesn’t.

can’t believe people just raw-dogging covid.

at my job, there’s someone who i’m pretty sure has some form of long covid already, she suddenly got extremely sick, but came in to work anyway.
then she tested positive for covid, everyone was aware of that.
she still came to work, wore a surgical mask in the morning, but it was off by the afternoon.
i was the only person there masked at that point.
others were going up and having face to face conversations with her… about having covid!!
the fuck?

Academia can be an incredibly small world. Reflecting on how a protesting professor scuffed up by cops I just saw in a news story, I haven't seen or thought much about since he generously let me sleep on his air mattress when I was in his town for a conference in 2005 or 2006, a lifetime ago
