This was a fun one, so let's do it again. What is something you've learned that seems unlikely, even though you know it's true? Here's one I think about a lot:
Sight, while being something something many people are born with, is not an innate ability, but something we learn to do. People who were born blind or were blind for a long time, who get sight, have to learn to see.
@RickiTarr Babies are born ambidextrous and don't usually show a preference until they are about 18 months old, although, some do so sooner. Caregivers can "push" a child into choosing right vs left.
@realTuckFrumper Criticize her all you want. She's not wrong. The money that gets paid to members of Congress from religious organizations controls much more than anyone is willing to admit. Democrats have controlled the Presidency and both chambers of congress more than once in the last 2 decades, and they did nothing to protect women's rights and the rights of members of the LGBTQ community. Money is power and your representatives and senators and mine like that money.
This is about an hour away from my farm, so this'll be a fun conversation, and yet another great opportunity to tell a lot of people about what a huge problem we have with unregulated commercialization of orbit. (Also I just redid my slides for my public talk next week, this is going in!)
Fed prosecutors asked judge overseeing #documents case against #Trump to bar TFG from public statements that “pose a significant, imminent, & foreseeable danger to law enforcement agents” participating in the prosecution.
The request to Judge Cannon follows false claim by Trump that FBI agents who searched his home in Aug 2022 were “authorized to shoot me” & “locked & loaded ready to take me out & put my family in danger” #legal https://apnews.com/article/d52b7468d93712dd86cbb8fe304d4b64
This case is from 1993, but shows that a Circuit Court has set precedent for removing a federal judge. It's a lot to read. Granted this was a long time ago & a different political climate & very different defendant
...Third Circuit issued a writ of mandamus pursuant to section
455(a), ordering Judge James McGirr Kelly of the United States District
Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to disqualify himself...
@LinuxAndYarn@GeePawHill@CaseyL@GottaLaff I didn't intend to compare the behavior of the two judges. I think I even said they were different. My point was, and is, that the Third Circuit, at that time, removed him of their own accord, which was the question, proving a precedent. I can handle criticism if it is offered with honesty and after a full reading of my statement(s). Yours does not do that.
@Nonilex This is the 2nd post like this I've seen. The governor of Louisiana doesn't have authority to classify any drug. That is one function of DEA. There is a procedure to follow to REQUEST a change in drug classification. The headline of the article is misleading as most headlines are.
...Republican Gov. Jeff Landry signed a PROPOSAL into law Friday that designates two drugs used in reproductive health care as “controlled dangerous substances” in Louisiana...
I don't know who it was that put a Canadian flag and a satellite dish on a roadside beaver house in the middle of nowhere British Colombia... but well done. No notes. #comedy
@flexghost Trump and friends are on video moving boxes from SUVs to a private jet in order to move them to Bedminster. Has that location ever been searched?

@GottaLaff NFL Each time I read something about Trump sleeping during testimony, I question why the judge doesn't require him to be "eyes open" and then question Trump's ability to participate in his own defense. It seems odd that a defendant is permitted to sleep, or appear to sleep, when the outcome of the trial could result in jail. If it were anyone else there would be a question of competence.
@peachfront@GottaLaff I'm not sure if a defendant facing prison nods off. I know I wouldn't. I would want to hear every word spoken and see every facial expression. But that's me. Perhaps Trump thinks he isn't going to be convicted. Maybe he knows something the rest of us don't. Who knows? Whatever the reason, it disrespectful to the jury and the judge.
@GottaLaff@peachfront In all honesty, if I were charged with a crime, I imagine my attorneys would want me to sleep. I have a really disruptive side. 😂
