Moin, moin & hallo . 👋 Folgende Frage hat ne Freundin zum Thema Fahrrad-Navi: "hauptsache der akku schafft sich mal so 5 std oder 7 oder so ohne das ich in der pampa bin und nicht mehr weiß ich ich da wegkomme" Funktionsumfang kann rudimentär sein. Mein Karoo 2 oder Wahoo, was ich noch nicht testen konnte, kosten mehrere 100 €. Gibt es billigere Alternativen, die was taugen? 🤔 @fedibikes @fedibikes

@AmNordpark @fedibikes @fedibikes Mein Smartphone hat wireless charging, habe Mir also eine Powerbank mit entsprechender Funktion gekauft (~20€), die klemme ich bei Bedarf mit in die Handyhalterung. Über Kabel würde auch gehen, wenn da nicht meine Kopfhörer drin stecken müssten.
So ein extra Garmin wäre sicher auch toll, war mir für die seltenen Anwendungsfälle aber zu teuer.

Was ich aus den ersten Monaten an unserem online open table mitnehme (btw, ich hoffe, das kleine Projekt läuft noch lange 🙃):

  • Das Spiel am Open Table mit mehreren SL war für mich komplett neu. Ich habe das Gefühl, einen ganz neuen Aspekt des Hobbies ❤️für mich erschlossen zu haben.
  • Pnp ist für mich in erster Linie eine soziale Aktivität. Über das Format open table konnte in den letzten Monaten viele total sympathischer Leute kennenlernen. Hammer-Privileg! 1/n

Auf dem deutschen DnD5e Discord gibt es auch Organized Play mit der Magiergilde, oder "nebenan" bei den Wächtern der Vergessenen Reiche.
Es werden One-Shots angeboten, so 2-3 pro Tag, die Charakterentwicklung ist aber durchgehend. Spielrunden sind üblicherweise ca 4h lang.
Bisschen Tracking gibt es auch, aber lange nicht so überbordend wie AL oder Pathfinder Society.
Sind ein paar 100 aktive Spieler und entsprechend viele Spielleiter.

Installed Hamster as a local server on my windows laptop. It works, is pretty simple to set up, and has a very late-90s aesthetic for the whole program that I thought we left behind in that decade with Pogs and a vague sense of optimism towards the future.

It is rather dense in its particulars though. My current issue: how exactly do I pull news automatically?
I assume it's possible, but I might have to write a script to do it.
The app is written for dial-up internet.

Farms in many settings tend to resemble the stereotypes of "American frontier homesteads" more than Central European farms.

And at least in 19th century Germany, farms had their own miniature social hierarchy. At the top were the farmer and his wife - and below them the maids and farmhands and tenant farmers who worked for room and board and paltry wages.

The rural regions of D&D settings assume that those who want to have a farm of their own can always carve out more land from the "wilderness" - a notion that derives from the Old West settler colonialism. In Central Europe, on the other hand, most of the land had already been distributed - and there was a large portion of the population who had no land of their own and could only sustain themselves by working for other people (and barely so at that).

So what are farms like in your D&D setting? American-style homesteads, or European-style miniature hierarchical societies?

If you think this was long ago, i can suggest that you read about the German "Heuerleute", basically farmhands who were paid in food, lodging and some little land to subsist from.
I learned that this form of labor lasted until the 1950s(!) in northern germany.

Die Kleinstaaterei der Verkehrsverbünde ist ja legendär. Ich benötige zunächst die Information, welcher Teil der Verbindung von welchem Verkehrsverbund erbracht wird, und zu welcher Tageszeit.
In den üblichen Infosystemen finde ich das nicht.

I joined mastodon today because the CEO of had a complete meltdown recently when people called him out for deleting a trans woman's blog because she posted a transition timeline. Da bin ich bei Kickstarter auch schon reingefallen. Ein Comic finanziert, als es dann endlich ankam musste ich $27 Porto/Steuern nachzahlen - dafür hätte ich es dann auch schon ein paar Wochen vorher bei Amazon kaufen können.
Ist letztlich auch niemand so richtig Schuld, das Porto ist ja tatsächlich so teuer, und für so kleine Mengen versendet man eben ohne fullfillment center in EU...

I appreciate , I really do, but the Orin camp scene is unfair, unfun, and downright horrible to play.

I understand the game has mature themes, I do. But up until that scene, the violence had boundaries. So sailing past those boundaries to drop "child gurgling with throat cut" onto the players through no mistake of their own was both unfun and poorly written. It felt like an edgelord guest DM took over and was trying to trigger players' anxieties, not create a fun experience.

Had I got the "traumatized cat murdered and turned into soup" option that offered no way to prevent the outcome, I'd have quit the game entirely. Sincerely shame on you to whoever wrote Orin's bullshit scenes for disrespecting the implicit session zero the game up until that point honored.

Bad scene. Bad writing. Bad writer.

@Melpomene Strange, i did never had this scene, wonder what i did differently. Not that i want to see it. I got "notified" about an abducted companion when Orin impersonated her on my way to her lair, a short time later i sent Orin to her afterlife and freed my companion. Camp looked as before.

Funny thing - when you read more scholarly histories of science it's amazing the extent to which nobody is ever that far ahead of the field. Even people we think of as rebels - Einstein, Cantor, Darwin, were firmly inside existing discussions and movements. I remember one author saying good scientists are a year ahead of the field, great ones are 5, the greatest are 10, and more and more that seems right, even generous.
