Anyway since waking up I have successfully written a Rust program that parses an mp3 and prints to the terminal the waveform (or rather signal power over time of the whole file) as ASCII art. It works great. There is only one problem: This is not something I need

I made the mistake of going on Twitter today to find a tweet. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I'm glad Urbanist Twitter is not representative of actual urbanists, because it's basically just this. ๐Ÿ˜†

I will never understand the mentality of people who dislike a YouTuber and then rant about it for months on social media, instead of doing something sane like, say, watching something else, making the content they want to see, or maybe touching grass.

I genuinely think that too much social media rots people's brains.

@notjustbikes @Darriengineer have you ever thought of doing a "call to action" kind of video? it'd be worth a shot. most people just can't find other urbanist youtubers or they are not as entertaining/charismatic as your channel so they don't watch them. most Americans at this point (especially in gen z) recognize systemic issues in the US, including infrastructure wise, they just have no clue WHERE TO START and go in blind and get overwhelmed.

@notjustbikes 1/2 although i respect strong towns heavily, they are not a very good resource for action within your community. they mostly focus on communities that have already made positive change, and the barely ever talk about HOW they made the change, and when they do talk about how they made change, strong towns never goes into detail. the only times they actually make videos on "how to actually make positive change in your community" it is mostly guerilla Urbanism,

@notjustbikes I have attended multiple of their meetings, and again, they do not help much, especially if the people in the organization have no idea what to do(people such as city nerd have also brought up this issue). it is mostly performative action. mind you I am speaking from the place of working on actual legislation and doing this as a full time job. also there is absolutely no reason to be hostile lmao? I have been nothing but professional throughout this conversation?
