At one point I remember having the NES hooked up to a VCR so the TV had to be on channel 3 so that you would see what the VCR was displaying and the VCR had to be on channel 4 to play the game.
Just FYI, Nintendo has always behaved this way. You can find stories about Nintendo suing and shutting down rom distributors for as long as roms have existed. They’ve also completely shut down several fan-made Pokémon games and tried going after rom hackers. They’ve also had a very long history of keeping their IPs completely exclusive to their platform and of reselling the same game on multiple platforms instead of allowing for backwards compatibility.
Just for once I would like to hear about some level of government announcing that the budget is balanced and debt is falling, also that stupid annoying thing that everyone hates is gone, plus there won’t be a strike this year.
Sure but, have you heard that trans people want to be able to use public restrooms? Not sure how you can focus on things like the economy when there are real emergencies happening.
When I was teenager, I got a speeding ticket in a different state and ignored it. Several months later, I got a notice that my home state was going to suspend my license over it unless I dealt with it within a month. Because I had skipped my court date, the only way I could do that was to drive 10 hours, show up early to court, and request that the DA and judge add my case to the docket.
So, I drove overnight, showed up early, and they agreed to hear my case. In the state I was in, at triffic court they have you stand in line and when you’re 3rd in line the ADA asks your name and pulls your file to the top and the DA then reads the charges out load when it’s your turn.
As I’m next in line, the DA starts reading the case of the person in front of me and it’s almost identical to mine. We were both clocked going significantly over the speed limit (I was actually going slightly faster), we were both from out of state, and we had both failed to appear to our scheduled court date. The judge hit him with a $200 fine and $150 court fee that would be reduced to $100 if it was paid on the spot in cash. I began to panic. I only had $250 until my next paycheck and my license was due to be suspended before then. I could barely hear the DA read off the details of my case over my pulse in my ears. The judge listened then announced my fine: $75 plus the court fee.
The only difference between myself and the person in front of me was our race. Yes, we were in a southern state and, yes, the judge was an old, white man.
Over the last few years they’ve innovated ways to do away with removable/replaceable batteries, headphone ports, and SD card slots while also making the phone entirely out of glass and sticking the front facing camera obnoxiously right in the middle of the top of my screen. If that isn’t progress, what is?
What can you get to within a 15-minute walk of your house?
A recent YouGov survey asked Americans what they think they should be able to get to within a 15-minute walk of their house.
Of these choices, I can currently walk to all of them from my apartment, aside from a university (no biggie, I'm not currently studying, although there is a Tafe within walking distance), a hospital, and a sports arena.
How many can you get to with a 15 minute walk from your house?
There’s no university or sports arena within 15 minutes of me but, the bus station will take me to either and I could walk to the sports arena if I really felt like it. I think the movie theater might be closer to a 20 minute walk but that’s still reasonable.
I’ve never heard the term before but, based on context, I’d say it means going to multiple police stations looking for a cop who will do what you want. Similar to the way that an addict might visit multiple doctors seeking drugs.
