It’s always a thrill to watch these old films of Secretariat. He knew he was a star.
I just learned that his heart weighed 22 lbs. The average racehorse’s heart is 9 lbs.

@vga256 Got any Performas? That was my first Mac, back in '93. Screeching modem, AOL, the whole shebang.

@vga256 I got a lot of use out of it. Moved on to a Mac clone (UMAX or something). Then the iMacs and eventually a few MacBook Pros.

@vga256 what I remember best were the screen savers - the toasters of course, Daredevil Dan, rats racing around a track. Lots of fun stuff. My start up sound was Marv Albert yelling his signature “Yes!” (An American sportscaster in case you’re unfamiliar).

My grandmother on her front porch. She lived in Little Havana, a short distance from the Orange Bowl. A big sports fan she would greet me when I walked back to her house after each Miami Dolphins home game. When they lost she'd wave her hand in disgust. When they won she was still a doubter.
She also held a long time grudge against the Dodgers for leaving Brooklyn.

She died 35 years ago and I still miss her.

One of my projects these days has been to digitize my old Super 8 films from long ago and far away. Here's one I shot in California of Allen Ginsburg and his partner Peter Orlovsky. I had forgotten that Lawrence Ferlinghetti was even there that day until I saw this.

Unfortunately, there is no sound.

@vga256 Interesting. Well, I had to upload this at the lowest res possible for SquareSpace and after putting it through iMovie. I looks much better in the original higher res. Not great, but better.
