One of my projects these days has been to digitize my old Super 8 films from long ago and far away. Here's one I shot in California of Allen Ginsburg and his partner Peter Orlovsky. I had forgotten that Lawrence Ferlinghetti was even there that day until I saw this.

Unfortunately, there is no sound.
Hopefully this link takes you right there.

A couple recent scans from old color rolls.
Obviously no color correction here.
The photo of the woman was from Miami Beach, the other was in Coconut Grove.

A man wearing sunglasses is standing on a sidewalk by a city intersection. His arms are folded and holding his jacket as he looks to his right.

Just read: UPS agreed to add air conditioning to its trucks as part of ongoing talks with the Teamsters union. Unbelievable that it's taken this long.

Hollywood, FL.

While my actual project involved photographing the Mid Century Modern motels along US1, I couldn't help but take some shots of this classy joint.

When editing this I noticed it was photo bombed (or bugged). I should add - the shutter speed was 1/950.

So....top of the line Varilux progressives for about $478 (w/ insurance, lenses only) or good ol' Costco frames and prog. lenses (proprietary?) for less than 300.?
That's my current dilemma.

My grandmother on her front porch. She lived in Little Havana, a short distance from the Orange Bowl. A big sports fan she would greet me when I walked back to her house after each Miami Dolphins home game. When they lost she'd wave her hand in disgust. When they won she was still a doubter.
She also held a long time grudge against the Dodgers for leaving Brooklyn.

She died 35 years ago and I still miss her.

I’ve got a cupboard with cans of food,
filtered air, and pictures to post,
and I’m not coming out until this is all over…

My slightly altered version of this..

Earlier today I found a playing card on the floor under an antique desk. A king of clubs. No idea how it got there but maybe it was stuck to the bottom of the desk and fell off. There’s no deck of cards to be found anywhere. A random event, sure, but I enjoy symbolism and had to look it up. 🧐 ♣️

I watched Godard’s “Breathless” again last night but just learned that it was filmed on Ilford HP5 (pushed to 800). Maybe this is common knowledge among aficionados?

Anyway, it’s some beautiful B&W cinematography.

Godard + Jean Seberg + HP5 = Magic.

Attached Wikipedia section explains how that was accomplished.

Back in the day, toddlers in Florida were often posed with giant stuffed gators.
This is my mom. I have to wonder how the little ones felt about all this. Probably scared sh**less.

Can't let the day go by without acknowledging George Eastman's birthday. I've had many a wonderful Kodak moment thanks to that man.

Hand colored antique photograph.
This is from a set of six scenes from early 20th c. Japan.

About 30 years ago a landlord owed me money for my deposit. They couldn’t pay and asked if I’d accept these as a partial payment. I later showed them to an antique photo expert who authenticated them and estimated the value.

Could someone, military or otherwise, please help me identify these patches? I found them in my step dad’s belongings. He was in the US Army during WW2, a cryptographic specialist stationed in Ceylon.
Thank you.

Last winter I was doing some location scouting for a portrait session and came across this interesting alleyway.

My step dad (an attorney, if it's not obvious).

It didn't take much to make him happy. He famously drove to his office in a 1970-something Dodge Swinger with no AC, extolling the virtues of the slant 6 engine to anyone who would listen.
