So, if you're in #Montreal and you were, say, thinking of going to have a wee trip to Place Du Canada today, you should be aware that at about 9am there were 15 police cars around the square, an additional five on side streets, plus the gray jumpsuited tacticool riot guys in their REALLY. BIG. MANLY. TRUCK. and the K-9 unit. I also saw the horses in their trailers heading that way. Just in case you were headed that way.

Yay - verified that a sealing dispenser valve (for their camping fuel bottles) does indeed fit perfectly on an fuel bottle.

Getting any Swedish Trangia gear here seems almost impossible, but I've coveted one of these dispenser caps for ages. Saved a few bucks and I get to reuse my MSR bottles by just buying a replacement dispenser cap.

@mpjgregoire HOWEVER DID YOU GUESS? Honestly, Teams has gotten way better an it does some things way better than Zoom (and, from an economic perspective, it makes no sense to have licenses for both).

@mpjgregoire I have issues. Most MS tools are overly nesting menu/settings driven and Teams suffers from it badly. I also don't like how they've have deployed new teaching tools without clarity about where the date lives and how it's managed.

@mpjgregoire the thing is that htey now have a gradebook and quizzes. The issues with that are a) the results/info is tied to a username b) they should be stored in Canada c) a percentage of our users are minors, so I don't like their data being "somewhere" d) I don't have a sense of how we could pull logs if there was a complaint about grades/teaching.

So there is a very nice woman online here in Montreal & I follow her on Insta & I have excused a lot of stuff that she's posted since October, but today she posted a video from some zionist who said a) social justice issues are linked to Israel being attacked b) that Iran (who I fucking hate) only attacked them to show they are a super power. I feel bad unfollowing her, but I can't any more. There is a fucking limit. It's awful Iran fired missiles.Just like everything Israel is doing is awful.

    Don't let any denier or fossil fuel apologist ever tell you that renewables are "unreliable" or that batteries are "unsustainable”.

    You can make batteries from water, sand, and other material to store electricity as heat. This is centuries-old technology that can power the 21st century and beyond.

    No more excuses.

    I just saw a video of a guy giving his pizza crusts to Gulls who then didn't eat them, and this reminded me of something from our honeymoon. So there we were, on Skye, on a Sunday. Which meant that most things were closed. But for the chip shop right by the water. It was run by borderline hostile teenagers, who, frankly, clearly loathed all us tourists. Which, honestly, I get. BUT! With the water being right there one would have been forgiven for assuming that the fish and chips would be...

    .. good. But, you know, no. See, what the borderline hostile teenagers had done was turned up the heat on the fry vats. By quite a lot.So, the outside of the batter/fish was quite done. Golden, verging on over cooked. But, because the oil was so hot, that was all that was done, so it was: layer of almost burnt batter, uncooked, warmed batter, basically raw fish. The chips were good, so we kept them, but we threw the fish to the omnipresent gulls. Who refused to eat it...

    .. this now puts me in mind of the best fish and chips I've probably ever had. Which is a tie between a chip shop in Oban and one in Kaikoura. And now, I want fish and chips. Which is an issue on many levels.
