Ouch, they are closing Camp Three Falls scout camp in Ventura County. Always a struggle to get people to attend, as it's in a dry, dusty area with very little water.

Got the full (columnar) interface for running in a tab in my browser. It's constantly using CPU per the Chrome taskmanager and I don't know why. Would have liked to leave it in the background but if it's going to do this it.. won't be left in the background.

@dhrystone doesn't it refresh on its own and provide notifications? I have to imagine that's going to use up some CPU. For me I've just given up keeping it persistent and will click into a new tab every couple of hours.

@ai6yr damn. We were in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle this past December. A small, quiet, very non-touristy town right on the north side of the bay. Wonderful area and people. I hope they're ok.

New sharpening paddle arrived late last week. Looking forward to trying (again) to sharpen my well-worn Kershaw Link later tonight - which has so far resisted all attempts at being sharpened despite four different systems being used. If all else fails, have a free lifetime sharpening service if you ship the knife back to their HQ in Oregon.

@dhrystone that's awesome and such a great feeling to get a tool like that back to prime condition. I have improved on freehand but I'm still not great. I did get the Worksharp Precision Adjust earlier this year and it's a learning curve but not that bad.

Played 6 different board games this weekend. Saw friends on Friday and more friends today. Got pumpkins and gourds for decoration. Have had the fireplace going for 9 hours today. Ate well, had a few drinks, and really enjoyed the cool temps. What a wonderful weekend.

Our house saga is (hopefully) coming to an end soon. While we still do not own the house, we have moved in, and closing is set for this Friday.

We are all living out of suitcases as we do not want to unpack if we have to move back into our old place.

After not playing a in over a week, I finally did bust one of the moving boxes open and grabbed for my wife and I to play tonight. So, besides Uno with the kids, I guess it is the first official game in the new house.

This move is absolutely cursed. Our whole house is packed and at movers for storage over night. We are cleaning the house yesterday for the final time. The realtor calls and tells us the buyers lender has determined to not close today because of their last mortgage payment being late (or something.) So now the closing is off until they transfer to another lender. While our stuff is literally on a truck.

Let's hope our seller approved temporary occupancy so we can still move in later today

I also played "Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy" on Saturday for the first time. It was...a lot. By the end I was letting the other two players go through their turns as I couldn't catch up on resources or points. My problem was not drawing tiles that would actually give me resources instead of more enemy ships. My first battle ended up with me losing all my ships which took to the end of the game to recover from. Will play again because of how big it is.

Funny story: we were playing on top of an air hockey table without a board or cover. After everything was set up, one of the players accidentally bumped the power button on the table which turned on the airflow and sent all the hex pieces and player boards slowly migrating all over the place. It was amazingly funny and I think someone should develop a board game that is designed to be played, in part, with an air hockey table turned on.
