Why would the nationalisation of Thames Water end up putting its debt on the public books? If a company goes bust, and the govt buys the remains, surely the investors simply lose their investment and the debt falls to zero?
They want water companies to operate as profit makers, so they should accept when they go bust too.

No I can't picture what this room would be like if we painted one wall blue and another grey. Until I have the colours in front of me they are just words.
That's not to say I don't like colours. Once the colour is in front of me I'll tell you if I like it. And I think I'm consistent on this, although it would be interesting to test that.
I’ve been re-reading all my history books about the Nazis. One thing that strikes me is how hard it was to fight back against Nazism from inside. The normative culture is so strong and everybody is just going along. Ordinary folks, with denouncing their neighbours to the Gestapo. The Gestapo was tiny only 32k. It was the ordinary people that were informing on their neighbours. Ordinary people enabled Nazism.
