First big group ride this year with local cycling group Charles River Wheelers (CRW).

Rode through some very wealthy suburban towns (Dover is the wealthiest town in Massachusetts with median household income of $250k+)

Very fast paced group. Started with the 2nd group (15-16mph pace) but caught the first group (17-18mph pace) shortly after. I stayed with the first group and average speed of this ride is 17.9mph!

I was curious about these towns (of course) so I looked them up. The wealthiest towns in MA all keep their zoning restrictions on residential properties to be at least 1+ acre, which pushes the property price really high. I saw a lot of humongous houses in Dover and Sherborn today.

This picture (from Reddit) is basically the local politics in MA (Weston is one of the two "W towns" in MA that're 2nd and 3rd wealthiest in the state).

I just noticed on my bike commute today that the oldest surviving house in Boston is actually in Dorchester - The James Blake House, built in 1661.

Wow, even more Google layoffs, this time in core infrastructure. I gotta admit I am, at this point, truly impressed with how breathtakingly arrogant and incompetent the upper levels of management are. I mean, this is some near world record levels of stupid โ€” layoffs are a known bad idea, but perpetual rolling layoffs? Seriously?

Today's -- if you keep Emergency Coffee in the freezer, you should rotate it out occasionally. Beans keep for quite a while if your freezer is cold but there are still limits.

This public service announcement brought to you by my looming vacation, and the bag of beans I had to resort to with a harvest date of 2013 on them. (I don't know how good they are, I've been a bit nervous to actually try the pot I brewed...)

@wordshaper thanks for the tip! I always avoid ordering too much beans at one time because I donโ€™t want them to be past roasted time too long when I open them. But that means sometimes I have to drink my partnerโ€™s k-cup when I have a lapse of fresh coffee beans ๐Ÿ˜’

Bostoniansโ€ฆโ€ฆ whatโ€™s the possible reason why we had almost $500 credit applied to our water bill? This is the first water bill since we bought this house and moved in.

I donโ€™t see anything on closing statement about water bills.

Anyone has experience working with an architect? Iโ€™m looking to start a renovation but I have no idea whatโ€™s the process. And a builder I talked to told me to get an architect to draw up a plan first. He also said he could refer one to me and itโ€™ll likely cost $12k - $15k for the plan.

Is this a reasonable price? Itโ€™s a 1500sqft old colonial two story house.
