interesting messing around with #stablediffusion when you find a concept that the ai heavily favors. tried to generate some halloween broccoli. couldn't generate anything but regular broccoli.
or maybe the two concepts are just so different it has no connections between the two from training?
@LemmyDev 50K per person can also be very little depending on where they live. Hopefully they all live in low-cost areas and have no families to support.
You know why most people use Generative #AI instead of professional photographers to take headshots? The same reason they use AI to make art instead of paying an artist. Because people are poor and they can't afford professionals!
So many people are acting like everyone just has the money lying around and are just too cheap to spend it. It's an extremely privileged take.
It's a good time to remind people of the bullshit asymmetry principle: "The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it."
@hrefna The fediseer has addressed exactly those issues. It provides the capability to create consensus based on varied sources depending on who is consuming it, and you can further filter the retrieved instances only for specific reasons, instead of taking an all or nothing approach.
One can even grab two or more beefing instances (which ensures there'll be no collusion) and create a blocklist based on the instances they all agree are bad.
I would rather see a true #FOSS version of what #Grayjay wants to achieve, instead of another proprietary app which WILL enshittify down the line, if it attracts enough market share to be indispensable.
We've seen this so many times before, starting from Google's "don't be evil" motto.
FOSS licenses are not there to protect the app from malicious parties. It's to protect the users from the developers. The choice to not use a FOSS license, is a strong signal on how this will play out.
It seems like the hype for #Lemmy is over. The few communities I followed are either abandoned or fed solely by bots.
What a shame. Going back to #Reddit is not an option either though.
@derthomas Ye a lot of this relies on having at least one passionate user to push kickstart thing and keep it alive long enough. The piracy community for example is thriving compared to reddit.
@derthomas In my experience, all it takes is one dedicated poster to get things going. You can try to crosspost stuff from reddit when appropriate, which will attract more people. No easy solutions except doing something about it.
Could we consider on the #Fediverse and #Mastodon that some Meta or non Meta Editors review federating requests before new instances make harm?
I know that would mean a federated "line of conduct", like in any real world federation...
@Martineski Finally mastodon started expanding linked images by default! So now ADHD memes are boostable on mastodon. Pity it's not possible to attach a tag though.
@david@BeAware@LazyCat You're using the /advanced_generate, which is obviously for advanced users. If you don't want to care about all the options, then just use the simply /generate.
You also don't need to care about kudos or workers if you don't want to.
But to answer your questions, a kudos is a prioritization mechanism. The more you have, the more priority you have. You get more by (among others) running a worker.
@david@BeAware@LazyCat The results are bad because you're using the "raw" style which is just basic SD 1.5. Use style "sdxl" for good results without too much fuss.
You can donate your machine time to get priority yes, that's what kudos is for. You can also subscribe to the AI Horde patreon which gives some kudos. If neither is an option, friendly or good behavious is also regularly rewarded by members of the community with kudos.
@david@BeAware@LazyCat OK yes that's the official AI Horde bot. I've now switched it to use SDXL by default. Using it is as simple as typing a prompt. You don't need to use the other options. You also shouldn't worry about losing your kudos. You can generate even without them.
Every time I see someone in the FediBlock tag bring up one of the handful of extremely well-known terrible servers, I'm reminded that we DO really need some kind of starter blocklist for new servers that want to be safe from harassment. In theory it's a great tool, people's egos just get in the way. #FediBlockMeta
You can now self-tag your instance on the #Fediseer
You can use that to discover new instances to join, or to help you filter out instances focused on subjects you might not want to deal with (e.g. "gore" or "piracy")
Multitasking. (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
