okay, for those sci-fi nerds of a particular age who may have missed it the first time around, no matter how well written you think it is, "Oath of Fealty" by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle is yet another book you should not be trying to fucking emulate. Niven is an absolute shit, and Pournelle wasn't much better imho.
