A video of a young man in a wheelchair, doing yo-yo tricks. The video is shot in a really nice looking indoor mall and the video cuts and changes the location frequently, but it does it in a way where the tricks all line up and make sense. Even though the location changes, the moves are consistent. The yo-yo tricks are intricate string tricks with slack elements.

Looking through some old posts on my site and noticing a bunch of twitter embeds are broken. It's probably due to Twitter.com forwarding to x.com, but it's oddly inconsistent. Some old tweets still display, others don't. Even stranger, I'm unable to see some of the tweets when I'm not signed in. For example, I can see this post if I'm logged in, but it says "this post has been deleted" when I'm incognito mode. https://x.com/DocPop/status/1531128882115424257 I'd be sad if that old content isn't viewable anymore.

San Francisco's first on-street bike lane was painted on this day in 1971 on Lake Street. Neighbors turned out in full force at a community meeting to demand the city do something about reckless drivers. Stop signs, bike lanes, and other traffic calming measures were installed 6 months later. #SanFrancisco

How would websites look if Google Search vanished overnight?

Along with how relevant your content is, Google also considers headings, subheadings, paragraph lengths, and layout when ranking search results. This driverless Waymo came to a full stop in the bike lane ahead of us, even though there was plenty of space in the passenger loading zone a few feet away. I waited to see if the Waymo would ever pull into the loading zone, but I got tired of waiting after 5 minutes. #SanFrancisco #Waymo #Robotaxi

Art Not Ads are a group of #SanFrancisco artists who paste collage art on walls that are usually covered with obnoxious ads. Their favorite "gallery" are the walls on the old Big Lots store (3333 Mission). Two small booklets that are made out of a single sheet of paper that has been cut and folded. The covers of each booklet looks similar, but one says "Comment Fabriquer Un Zine" and the other says "How To Make A Mini-Comic". The one in french has a drawing of Pierre, the artist who drew the cover. The one in english has a drawing of Doc Pop (me).

Me playing with a yo-yo in my living room. I throw a breakaway throw and then let go of the end of the string. The yo-yo flies in the air and sucks the string and the counterweight back into its body, then kicks the counterweight and string back out again for me to catch.

Found a copy of David Thornburg's "Coloring Series I: Geometric Designs" on Capp St. It starts off with essays on human-computer interfaces, but most of the book is examples of computer generated art (circa 1983).

Today is Ritual Roasters’s 19 anniversary. I moved to SF a few weeks prior to Ritual’s opening and spent a lot of time at their location on Valencia St (I lived a block away). Over the years I’ve made a lot of art and friends at this location too. Happy birthday, Ritual!

These 13 photos are actually one long image scanned from a foot of 35mm film. Still images that slide across the screen from right to left. They are various shots from the SoMa district in San Francisco. Storefronts, sidewalks, street graffiti, and other things. Each image blends into the next image like a double exposure, which makes the video feel like one long image, rather than 13 shots placed side by side.
