"The Oregon #MotorVoter (OMV) registration law took effect on January 1, 2016, making #Oregon the first state in the nation to implement automatic #voterRegistration [for drivers]" and then they mail you a ballot, but how do we get non-drivers to vote? #pdxBikes#ORpol
Did you get a $15k quote for #HeatPumps swap from your central #methane furnace? Are heat load calculators really still this hard to use or are sales bros just not doing the work? We had cardboard #sliderules that did it in the 80's. LMAO just wait for the coldest day and measure it @TechConnectify 🤣
I'm not trying to vilify all #drivers here, just the ones with illegal license plate covers or missing front plate or who roll past the stop sign and half into the bike lane before looking, or those who are driving 5-10mph over the already egregious posted speed, or the ones who park in bike lanes and on sidewalks and honk too much and impatiently ride my tail while there's a fresh red light in front of me or those assholes who drive in the curb lane of an ODOT stroad when the left lane is open.
striking to hear that most journeys in the UK are under 8 miles, in contrast to half of all car trips in the US being under 3 miles 😲 I thought here was bigger than there, too big for bikes etc. @TheWarOnCars
I'm not saying an electric #cargoBike is going to solve every feminist issue in our cities, but it's a heckuva stroller/diaper bag/"sag wagon" for "encumbered travel". Being able to take kids to school or the park without having to park a car and then walk through the gauntlet of crosswalks and whatever, and they can jump out and run to the swings as soon as you get to the park sidewalk, etc. It's so great for kids to learn the neighborhood and mobility by bike.
do not speak ill of your bikes, or you may find, as I did yesterday, that they have a flat tire when you had taken for granted that it would be ready to go get the kid from school 😞
#30daysOfBiking carried partner and kid home from after-school errands on the xtracycle. Really should be taking the tandem+trailerbike as better able to carry them both but partner doesn't like the forced pedaling of being chained to my crank. 10yo kid prefers the supercargo, like an absolute princess, but I don't have a great rear seat (footrests) arrangement for partner on that. 🤔 Maybe there's a madsen with electric stoker treadles in my future. Or xtracycle the edgerunner...
20in hub-motor-specific suspension fork for yuba supercargo? I need this bike to have more power but also regenerative braking, and hold traction better on bumps (currently the motor skips/skids slightly on every bump and crack when climbing.) And it needs about 1000W braking power but 350W is enough assist / for tractionary reasons, I need to send any more power than that to the rear wheel & where it can shift gears. #CargoBike#eBike#SuperCargo
Lake Oswego #drivers who think they're more important than you are the root cause* of #pdxTraffic
(* actually the cause is #trafficEngineers designing streets specifically to create #InducedDemand for assholes to arm themselves with a car and behave like this.)
"Gonzalez recently released a melodramatic video claiming he was "accosted" by a female fellow TriMet rider on January 27, who allegedly subjected him to “deliberate, unwanted physical contact” while also having the gall to criticize the public servant over his cruel policies. Unfortunately for him, TriMet video of the incident show he wildly exaggerated those claims, and AT MOST the woman may have brushed Gonzalez’s arm as she passed by"
People can't imagine a future where we banned cars, but how many failed techbro propellerheaded ideas to stop #globalWarming do you need to see before it's hard to imagine one where we didn't?
swept Multnomah to Oleson and back, Terwilliger OHSU to Taylor's Ferry (PBOT needs to do some heavy lifting farther south here & sidewalks too), sidewalks on bridge over the freeway, both sides of Barbur from 3rd to 19th (ODOT come get your broken asphalt bits, and sweep your sidewalks?), Barbur NB from 24th to Spring Garden -> 19th, Bertha, yesterday Vermont past the schools, Capitol Hwy Terwilliger to the bridge across Multnomah #pdxBikes#BikeLaneSweeper#Portland#transportation@bikeloudpdx
People should really try to understand how voting methods work. Math is hard if you have to think about counting everyone's vote, I guess 🙄 (starvoting.org, it's not that hard)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Israeli_legislative_election "both blocs were neck-and-neck, with the anti-Netanyahu bloc achieving 49.5% but not gaining enough seats due to Meretz and Balad narrowly missing the electoral threshold, as 289,000 anti-Netanyahu votes went wasted in terms of seats share."
for filling watering jugs, I'm trying to find some simple float nozzle thingy that would allow a few jugs to be filling from the rain barrel while you are watering plants with one or two (used 1gal milk jugs) but I'm not finding such a thing for less than $32 each fancy fuel nozzle, that seems to have a spring/trigger thing. It's going to fill with algae and get clogged with junk / a pain to clean if it's anything more complicated than a floating ball in a slotted tube
