I genuinely think that a student used ChatGPT for a poem they turned in. I have absolutely no way to prove it.

Well, I could go to them and ask them to write a version of it in my presence. Sigh. Do I care so much to risk insulting my student like that. My suspicions arose when they could not pronounce one of the words they used while reading it aloud in class.

@rjblaskiewicz i dunno; i wasn't able to pronounce a lot of words i would use as a kid. if they've only seen it written and not heard it, it can be kinda difficult to pronounce some words. ('superfluous' is a good example, and i still cringe over mispronouncing it in public to this day.)

@actuallyautistic anyone else do this? i have trouble identifying my own emotions and pain, like where the pain is (one space or joint vs limb or whole body pain) or what enotion specifically i'm feeling besides positive/negative (and sometimes not even that). but when i smoke cannabis, i have a far easier time pinpointing this kinda stuff. none of my autistic friends smoke, so i can't really ask them 😅

@Susan60 @actuallyautistic yeah, i had that epiphany over the past couple years, too. i have to get into specifics for surgical procedures, so they can tell exactly which vertebra they need to mess with. it's very much a skill that allistics have and the rest of us have to intentionally learn. :/

However, I personally hold a different viewpoint on X's value. In my opinion, Elon Musk may have previously overstated its worth, and it seems he may be doing so again. It's worth noting that advertisers, much like Superman's aversion to Kryptonite, seem to be avoiding X: if a brand gets too close to X, it might kill them.

Speaking of high-profile acquisitions, do you remember when Microsoft attempted to purchase Yahoo for approximately $44 billion? It makes one wonder whether X will meet a similar fate and become the next Yahoo.

Whatever it is, honeycomb is even better, even though you have to eat a bit of wax with the honey, it's so much for floral and bursting with sunlight and summer wildflowers.

@futurebird idk, but the stuff from the bears isn't real honey, right? it also depends on where the bees collect pollen. the local kind i get is almost less sweet and more bright on the palate than the real honey from a large brand. and i gotta agree that honeycomb is best. it's the most hedonistic food i can think of lol.

This has mostly been reported as "trans women banned from women's chess" but it's much more sinister. (as if it weren't already.)

ALL trans people are targeted by this ruling. Trans men will be stripped of all chess titles won, which can only be returned to them by “changing the gender back to a woman” (from the ICF’s ruling). ALL transgender chess players will be marked as trans in their files.

If you play or know anyone who does take a stand on this. It's ugly.

incels have a similar relationship to sex as rapists do— as in, it's only tangentially related to sex, and what they really want is power and violence. power over a woman (or child, if we're being honest about them,) and whatever future men she may or may not have sex with. to them, women are just objects to perform their philosophy upon and exist to be the subject of violence, while men and the toxic relationships between them are at the core. it's not about sex at all imo.

@milkteawitch @actuallyautistic definitely parallel play, but also not having to fake eye contact, being able to stim without it being "disruptive", being able to freely share interests— infodumping can be part of that, but not always. being able to use accomodations (ex: typing or signing while nonverbal,) that you can't with NT people. being able to have human contact AND unmask.
