@famousblueben@mas.to

Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia, I'm a big time film nerd (with a particular love of David Lynch & 20th century horror), an avid reader of a broad range (but 70s 80s horror and sci-fi paperbacks and political history are my jam) and part-time poet when I'm less stable/more inspired, indie rock geek with a strong Americana twist. I'm ace-leaning and a committed friend of the Trans community, genderqueer he/they, mental health awareness advocate with schizoaffective.

Just inject that Destroyer or Broken Social Scene or New Pornographers right into my veins.

Because I spent so much of my youth just playing Pokemon whenever I wanted to mess around with my Gameboy and never had any generation of handheld after that, I missed sooo many games that came out for them. What are some of your favorite games that came out for and that I should check out, I've seen so few videos or anything compared to any other systems that I'm kind of flying blind.

In my new project of watching every episode of the original run of Unsolved Mysteries on the Roku Channel, it only took until the 2nd episode until we got a and LARPing referencing Satanic Panic segment. It simply wouldn't be 1988 without it.

It is kind of fucked that the Jedi and the Senate were just like okay with the Clone Army when pushed came to shove, flesh and blood beings with inner lives, when their opponents were primarily droid armies. Why the heck didn't they just make their own droid army?

Gavin Newsom has the opportunity to do the funniest possible thing and appoint Jello Biafra to the US Senate. Show some courage for once, Gavin.

In my lifelong defense of the classic Smashing Pumpkins albums despite Billy Corgan being a crazy person, I just argued that Disarm is the song Peter Murphy in the 80s would have made if the label would have spent on a full string section.

JJ Abrams is really a complete hack. The one thing that can unite and fans is that JJ Abrams is responsible for attempted homicide through bored incompetence on both franchises.

I've been kind of stressed out and bummed the last few days, so since a friend brought it up this morning I thought it was time to return to my ultimate comfort series in complete with the Log Lady intros from the original VHS releases. Only I could find comfort when depressed in

Acquired the audiobooks of the original Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn, because I've just gradually decided I'm not super interested in the modern Disney-era canon and only want to explore or re-explore the very fun stories of the now-Legends era, spurred on by the recent sales on Legends-era games.

I don't get all these religious people seeking their heavenly rewards in the afterlife, heaven already exists and it is called Waffle House.

Not gonna lie, I'd rather listen to Yoko Ono's very nice, accomplished experimental music than I would like 3/4ths of the Beatles' Pablum-filled solo careers. She's got a number of albums I quite dig.

Didn't get a chance to comment on it yesterday, but just wanted to say how impressed I was all weekend with Linus Lundqvist.

In practice and qualifying in mixed conditions, he was consistently a bit faster than what those Meyer Shank cars average this year, and he was solidly in the top 13 like all race until his accident, running some of it when pit strat allowed up in the top 10 with usually much faster cars. I really hope it was good enough to lead to more chances.

I don't know which aging cis males need to hear this, but you actually can criticize terrible female politicians without resorting to horribly sexist terminology and concepts. It is actually much more effective when you do!

One of the only John Carpenter films I have never seen, so logically I had to own it when I don't even own copies of my favorite Carpenter films. Can't beat $1.98.

Sometimes on a whim I just decide to experience something different in life, and I couldn't decide on anything to watch tonight so I said "You know what I've never given much of a shot? outside of Pokemon or Dragon Ball Z" and got a Crunchyroll free trial. I watched some One Piece that was pretty entertaining and I watched the first episode of Cowboy Bebop which I actually quite enjoyed a lot. Does anybody have some suggestions of other stuff on there to sample?

I want to start a book club that only reads books in William Shatner's entirely ghostwritten, critically reviled multimedia series TekWar. Once we end, we watch the TV movies and play the poorly received Doom-clone game too.

Watching my BluRay copy of it is really amazing to me just how bad all the pointless CGI animals and shots they added to the Mos Eisley sequence in '97 look. They have aged so far worse than any of the SFX from the original '77 cut, I really don't know why Disney hasn't just offered an official De-Special Editioned version of the film, I think a lot of people would want it.

I'm generally not a fan of Maxwell House which I think is inferior to a lot of budget priced name brand coffees including its chief competitor in Folgers, however if you put the label "Caffeine Boosted" on your coffee you're gonna get my attention
