One of my favorite #German terms is “Mund-zu-Mund-Propaganda”, literally “mouth-to-mouth propaganda”. It’s supposed to mean “word of mouth”, but is a bit nonsensical. I mean, you’re not telling something from one mouth to another, you’re usually saying thing for other people to receive via their ears.

Not sure whether it’s inspired by “Mund-zu-Mund-Beatmung” (mouth-to-mouth resuscitation), or whether it’s supposed to mean “one mouth says it, then another, etc”. I just think it’s weird.

Dear #fediverse friends, please help me make another completely insignificant choice.

My corded drill died so I'm finally allowed to buy a new cordless one. 🥳 Problem is that I found 3 identical drills:

Hey folks! I’m struggling with my fedi usage. I’d love to post more intimate things (sexually, but also emotionally), but I don’t know whether I should use this account to do it, or get an alt.

I love following “horny on main” accounts and I think desire & emotions should be normalized a lot more, in public.

Then again, many of you might not have signed up for that, and don’t want to read about a 39yo dude’s sexual life, even behind CWs.

if you use Linux on your personal computer: what do you like about it?

I used to be super into customizing my window manager, but now I mostly like that it's so easy to install software, and that the environment is the same as on a Linux server

(please no arguing about whether people "should" use Linux on their personal computers, I'm just curious about why you personally like it)

Today when I tuned my #ArchLinux setup on my work machine (a thinkpad x1c) I accidentally discovered it has a working touch screen... fun :) Also, I found #syncthing - so very handy when migrating docs between old and new machines...

Dear #Python⁠istas, in the spirit of "it's always #DNS", are you aware of something that might break this?

On an #IPv4/v6 dual-stack client, you make a requests.Session.get() call. The target host name is a CNAME record that points to several round-robin A records but no AAAA records. The endpoints all listen on IPv4 only.

Have you come across any situation in which requests may be misbehaving in such a way that #IPv6-to-v4 fallback doesn't work, and the call would result in a ConnectionError?

Is there something better than sshfs?
I ask because for some reason the maintainers of sshfs have decided "fuck osx" and made it a gigantic pain in the ass. I have a server we're using for a gig and its gathering lots of intel, and I dont want to scp down snapshots several times a day, i want to view live data on that box.

am i just behind the curve? is there some cool new thing I dont know about?

stellt fest, dass er portugiesisches Portugiesisch ziemlich unästhetisches Gematsche findet 😬

Dicker Angst Artikel in der Zeitung zu Trampolinen, Kindern und Verletzungen. Jemand ist sogar jetzt im Rollstuhl.

Typisches FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt)?
Ich denke schon, zumal das allerhand positives für die Kinder hat. Es gibt überall sowas und j natürlich gibt es auch mehr Verletzungen (relativ).

Hat jemand zufällig wissenschaftliche Artikel oder Studien dazu?
