The EIB Board of Directors approved €5bn to support Europe’s wind energy sector, in line with the #REPowerEU plan to accelerate the energy transition.
€20.4 billion to finance new projects, including:

Last year, we set the target to fill up our gas storage by 90% by 1 November. We exceeded it by filling up the storage to almost full capacity.
Storage provides an additional reserve in case of strong demand or supply disruptions.
We are strengthening our energy independence with #REPowerEU by saving energy, diversifying our energy supplies, and speeding up the clean energy transition.

Yesterday the EU approved new rules on energy efficiency to reduce our final energy consumption by at least 11.7% by 2030, compared to the energy consumption forecasts made in 2020.
This will drive energy savings in critical sectors like buildings, industry, and transport, moving us forward on our path to becoming climate neutral.
It will also strengthen our energy security and further decrease our dependency on Russian fossil fuels.
