Just for fun. I added together all of the images I took of Comet Pons Brooks a few weeks ago. The session was just after astronomical twilight and every single frame I took (68) had at least one satellite trail. To really piss me off, a whole train of freshly launched Starlink satellites joined the "party". This, friends, is the price we pay for "progress".

What is the biggest difference between life in this era and say... European feudalism?

I would argue it's near universal literacy. And along with simply having access to the written word, the highest percentage of a population armed with some scraps of what you might call a "liberal arts education"

The ability to self-teach.

So a favourite story about the crack in Victor Bay pictured with the ATV. A few years back no crack formed there, it happens some times. We went out to Qikiqtalik Nuvua on the Canada long weekend to camp, and to hunt on Admiralty Inlet.

We returned and there was still no crack. We had been using my BIL’s snowmobile and left it on the ice by the beach.

About a week later the ice came free of the shore prior to break up. I went down to get the snowmobile.

I finished and ironed the Cat Quilt several days ago but cannot bring myself to try to take photos of it. But! I just made a little cat bag to put the quilt in for transit to my mom, from leftovers. I assume she can use it for shopping etc. if she so desires.
Just a basic fabric bag, I tried to be clever with the patch pocket placement for easy reach!

Close up of the nicely finished handle. The opening of the bag has been faced with a pieced together strip of light beige fabric, the handle has had its raw end encased under it. The handle has then been flipped over and stitched down.
A close up shot of the edge of one of the patch pockets. The top stitching going in two rows is quite neat and satisfying. It has reinforcement to hopefully make it pretty durable. The cartoon cats in the light fabric are in yellow, blue, turquoise and brown. They're rather cute. The big cat image is very stylish.

I scrubbed down the balcony this morning (a thankless task, partly due to the lack of an outdoor tap, and partly because Casper the outdoor cat never looks impressed!)

The cat cam camera testified to my hard work!

Took the pretty hard decision to step back from the steering group of Astronomers for Planet Earth this week - I've, realistically seen, not been able to put in my weight for the last two years or so. And I don't see it becoming better as much as I hoped it would. Hard to let go - it grew up from an idea some of us had on twitter (during an in person conference!) and look at how much folks do now with it! But it's time to give it to folks who will actually invest more time than I.

Afternoon high tea with a Prince of Tennis (Japanese manga/anime) theme! Each cake is based on the tastes of one of the manga characters (from the Rikkai tennis team). There was also a mini-burger. Also, I can no longer move comfortably 😅
