May is both Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. I first went to therapy at the age of 52 at the height of anti-Asian violence in 2021. One of the best things I've ever done. Sending good vibes and encouragement to anyone considering it.

It takes me around 1h to scan a roll of 35mm film on my film scanner (Plustek 8200i). The process involves VueScan, Negative Light Pro, Photoshop (some people have simplified it with standalone apps but that’s still my workflow).

When I feel lazy, I just book an hour of time at Photolaundry and use the lab scanners they rent out by the hour. I can do 8 rolls in an hour, very little post-processing needed. Straight to jpg is already great

@skinnylatte Curious... do you scan every image? I'm too impatient to scan everything, so I usually selectively scan just the images that look good to me. (Same scanner, btw!)

BIG UPDATE: Brandon Kraft at Automattic very helpfully responded to me on Mastodon and said the company has NOT already sold Wordpress posts to "A.I." companies for model training via Jetpack/Firehose! A relief. But the company's still planning to sell Wordpress.com & Tumblr posts, so opting out seems smart to me! Hey friends, here's a wild one. Just developed two rolls of Kodak Tri-X 400 in the same tank. Both fresh, unexpired rolls. Here's what the tail ends of both look like. My best guess is that the roll on the right went through an airport scanner and got fogged. A massive difference that results in dense, grainy negatives.
