#vscode can open a "Quick Picks" lists when a selection needs to be made.

a Quick Pick opens at the top centre of the screen, and can be easy to miss on large screens or when your attention is elsewhere in the app. Sometimes it looks like nothing happened.

I'm exploring an (optional) variant that is more local to the relevant UI control.

these words are too visually and conceptually similar.
