My favorite hashtag is , where folks from Southeast Asia share our music (mostly with each other). I know a lot of Indonesian, Malaysian and Thai music but almost nothing about Filipino or Vietnamese, so it’s nice to learn

Been thinking hard about blogs again, as I do every few months. I've had a website since at least 1998 and was blogging before I knew there was even a name for it, hand coding pages with dates and entries in HTML. Still maintain my website at https://gregpak.com. Still think of it as the center of my web presence, a place I completely own and control that a fickle billionaire can't easily ruin. Still wonder what it would take to make blogs take off again.

Twitter somehow gets worse week by week--right now it is an unusable swamp of right wing conspiracy theory, wave after wave of racism (there is currently an "invasion" underway at the southern border that must be stopped by lethal force) crypto bros, and bots selling high-follower accounts. Amazing really.

Has anyone asked 1Password how it intends to comply with EU/UK law, forbidding it from accessing information (anonymised or not) stored on a user's device, for a purpose which is not strictly necessary for the provision of the service, without the user's consent? Is 1Password claiming that this is "strictly necessary", such that it doesn't need consent?

@neil @Jyoti I think @1password has a humanities problem, but are looking for a technological fix. The result is that they will drive away their core, early user base who loved the humanity of the company. They will be stuck with techbros who will drop them as soon as they can. They are writing their own obituary. Bring humanities and social science folk who can do what you need. It’s messier, more labor intensive, and more human(e).
