    Now we are back in Korea after a 3 week vaccation at my parents in Germany. It was so nice that they finally could meet their grandson for the first time. We had so much fun we went swimming with the children a lot, we ate amazing food amd my fiance wasn't pregnant like last time so she also enjoyed it a lot this time around. We even visited the famous christmas market in Nürnberg!

    I was listening to the American military radio here in Korea and they invited soldiers to donate blood with some exceptions:

    • if you've been shorter than 30 days in Korea
    • if you got a tatoo in the last 6 months
    • if you lived in Europe for more than 5 years

    I really wonder what happened to someone who lived in Europe for more than 5 years which triggered this particular exception.

    @feditips I didn't know this exists so what I did already years ago is I created a list of people I really don't want to miss any posts from and added it as another timeline. This way I always see it easily and don't miss anything;

    @aral This is nothing new. When I was in Hebron in 2019 I talked to a farmer family too, but it was even worse for him because his family house has been demolished 3 times already and when I was there I saw that the IDF bulldozered his whole farm, ripped out all the trees, destroyed all vegetables and fruit plants. He even traveled to Geniva to talk in front of the UN about their situation but nothing changed. His name is Atta Jaber, you can google him for more context.

    I'm just looking at Koreans eating donkatsu (Schnitzel) and it is eaten here with fork and knife. 90% of them hold the fork in their right hand, which is interesting and the opposite from what I've been fought as a child.

    @loke because holding the knife in the dominant hand makes it safer to cut tough things like meat off bones,etc.

    @GTK I was trying to rewrite https://github.com/jeena/feedthemonkey in Rust + GTK4 + libadwaita but I can't get any webview to work in any way so I kind of stopped trying. Perhaps it'll be easier in a couple of years :D

    I broke my matrix server federation while moving it to a new server. First I didn't realize it, until a friend pointed it out. But now I won't have time to fix it for the next one to two weaks.

    @GreenSky even though that is totally true, where are the alternatives? I can only see Dictatorships as alternatives which kind of work, but they are much much worse for everyone.

    I wish had the functionality to create your own lists of communities. I have a couple of them which are very low volume but I'm very interested in seeing each and every post there. Right now I have to remember them and go to them specifically once every couple of days to check if there are new posts there.
