I think the LED connector is just a SIM card slot? More solid than most connections for light strips.

Apropos of nothing (I hope), Shawn Mullin's Beautiful Wreck has been swirling around my brain the last 24 hours. Making dinner last night, “such a beautiful wreck". 2am wandering to the bathroom, “what a beautiful wreck you are”. Walk the dog this morning, “but you make such a beautiful wreck”.

I've been wondering if something in the phone's camera system is visible or audible to bugs and birds. Like I can move around, get closer, but as soon as the camera app is opened that seems to spook them most of the time.
Just me?

Beautiful morning for a mt bike ride after overnight rain, which brought out a lot of Red Efts with birds in full song.

A long time ago I made a little pond in our back yard. Ostensibly for the indoor fish (Koi, Comets) to spend Summer outside, but then the scope (and pond) got bigger. Waterfall, rocks for frogs to sunbathe, and deep sections so fish could survive Winter. May 19, 2004 I got the idea to add local fauna to the pond in the form of a couple scoops of plants and bugs from a nearby vernal pool (i.e. roadside ditch). Enjoying water bugs and tadpoles noodling around I spotted a small clump of sticks ... moving.
Posted about it on my blog and a reader ID’d it as a Caddisfly Larva.
Flash forward to yesterday, checking out the frogs in our messy little pond, when a bundle of sticks walked by underwater.

Today’s quick 3d print of a “pill placer" for our old dog. Big enough for the capsules he has to take 3x a day and hopefully more accurate and less intrusive than my fingers, with less chance of a munched finger.

slicer preview of the printed parts showing where 4mm rod goes through and connects

Well, yes, dinosaur shape is unique.

Question for any woodworkers: how resilient are electric planars to screws and does it even make sense to plane old deck boards to reuse? I was thinking of flipping them over.

Saw this well fed froggo soaking up rays yesterday afternoon and just had to capture all of its glorious textures.

Good morning, what kind of rhubarb recipe are you looking for?

Made a rhubarb/strawberry crisp last night. Might have to try a Kuchen or just open book to a random spot and make that.

part of the appendix with cakes, cookies and bars, and “desserts” as if those others aren’t “:^)

This needs its own post.
First off, I’d love to explore it, especially the very top. But what is up with the windows?? The center jumble on second floor to start, but even the far right windows on 1st, 2nd, 3rd floor all have different spacing. Middle decks are staggered, in fact the whole middle “shaft” seems like an add-on. The left/right 3rd story roofs don’t match, other than the slate.

⭐️8 stars, keep people guessing!

Family ride, with bits of rail trail today, but first let’s enjoy some sights along the way.

The Cheshire Rail Trail goes from Keene, NH to Bellows Falls, VT but it looks faint and elusive the further you get from Keene. I'm checking out someone’s Street View, wondering if the family can/would try it, then I pan the camera down to see who’s riding it. ";^)
Shot in 2020, I wonder if the trail has had much work since?

view of person making street view: a dad with two little kids in the back of his bike, one in bright green helmet the other pink
a section of trail with tree across it, the bike sits nearby as if Dad had everyone get off while he carried it across or around
looks like everyone’s heading back to bike after the tree portage section

Archeologists, studying the origins of cardboard boxes, have found convincing evidence of early and continued ritual use by Felis catus.

Noticed something slightly off about the bird feeder this morning. Followed a faintly visible “bent grass" path into the woods, through a muddier section and right over a low point in our notably lame wire fence (to keep dog/chickens in) to find some faint, fresh tracks.
It's been years since a bear has visited and this seems half hearted, maybe because we only have a little bit in the feeder at any point? It didn't have any interest in garbage cans or the nearby chicken coop.
