"Loud Men Talking Loudly: Exclusionary Cultures of Internet Governance"

Excellent research by @C__CS of internet governance cultures, their supposed openness and how they continue to benefit certain groups.

@ekastner that's the opposite of an unpopular opinion. At least, to me.

About 5 years ago my sister lost a book of poetry (William Blake), so recently she decided to replace it and ordered a second hand copy on eBay. It arrived today.

It's got her handwritten notes in it. It's hers.

I’ve helped run the @moaparty Twitter <> Mastodon bridge with @flancian for a couple of years now.

We haven’t been great at comms, we really do need to do a graceful shutdown soon. More here:

@boris @moaparty @flancian Thank you both for running that service. It really helped me and some of my contacts move to Mastodon. You had the best mastodon twitter bridge around.

    @corbin I absolutely enjoy Reader View, when the article I want to read has layout or accessibility issues like: too many ads, popups or overlays, bad or unreadable typography, is not responsive and I want to read it on a mobile phone. It's really a life saver. I don't know if it's so well known.

    It would be super cool if the chat from a zoom call was still available to read after the call ends...for when you forgot to copy/paste stuff out...

    judeswae,
    @judeswae@toot.thoughtworks.com avatar

    @tdp_org There is a setting in zoom to automatically save the chat in a text file.

    judeswae,
    @judeswae@toot.thoughtworks.com avatar

    @tdp_org How can this be denied by corporate policy? What's the risk?

    So if your colleagues share a truckload of links and references in chat, all you can do is screenshot them or loose all that info forever?

    They have too much money or free time at the corporation where you work ;)

    judeswae,
    @judeswae@toot.thoughtworks.com avatar

    @tdp_org Am not really sure what kind of company you work for, but isn't everything produced while working for the company, somehow property of the company? I mean, they can't do anything they want with it. And people should be respectful of each other, but there are code of conducts for this. And I believe trust and encouraging respectful behaviors are better than pseudo technological barriers. But I might be missing something. Maybe you work in a highly regulated environment.

    judeswae,
    @judeswae@toot.thoughtworks.com avatar

    @tdp_org Ha, I see now your employer in your profile. The press is definitely a particular environment with particular regulations regarding authorship, citations, etc. Makes sense, I guess.

    Hive Mind:

    Doing a study on social engagement for non-Mastodon-content-focused accounts that cross-post almost the same content on both platforms.

    (BTW the best practice for doing this to my mind is posting original content HERE and crossposting it THERE, but that's not the point of this exercise)

    I want to compare social engagement for big and small accounts and work on a ratio to compare engagement apples to apples.

    Does anyone do this, or recommend accounts I look at that do?

    judeswae,
    @judeswae@toot.thoughtworks.com avatar

    @tchambers Don’t know if that helps you, but @mfowler has looked at his Twitter / Mastodon engagement couple months ago and summarized it in this article https://martinfowler.com/articles/exploring-mastodon.html#comparing-engagement-on-twitter-and-the-fediverse
