It is possible that multiple suggestions may be combined in the one drawing.

Alright. Today is the EDIT thank you @Lemonandpeach SECOND last day of October for me and all these drawings that I've been doing for it. If there's something you'd like to see me draw and a colour you'd like to see it drawn in, I am taking suggestions.

The Floating False Phoenix Firefly is native to the foothills across the southern continent of its low-gravity planet Heshick.

It feeds on nectar and is the subject of many scholarly debates as to whether it's a bird or a bee or a moth. Unlike the Hummingbird moth of Earth, however, science is very vague on whether it is any of them.

Its fiery coloured plumage may deter predators who rely on hydrogen sacs to get their lift, but this is only a theorem.

Art Ink In October No.28

This odd little creature is known as a Varper in the hills of Krergle Lucent. They're friendly and curious and bear some similarities to the monotremes of Earth.

I drew it with the rainbow Conklin which I had to refill partway through with the Robert Oster Red Orange.

A very quick sketch of the view out of my window at my hotel room. It's a very rough and ready view of the river and South Perth.

For some reason I thought the Pilot had black ink in it, which is why I brought it, but no.

@rdmasters started singing a particular TMBG tune, and it got stuck in my head. I have committed TMBG inspired art. Can you guess the song? No shame if you can't, because it's a pretty obscure reference. It's not like it's a blue canary in the outlet by the lightswitch or anything.

Drawn with a Twisbi Wings, with J Herbin Azure Bleu or what it turns into when you fill a dried up pen which had something vaguely bluey green in it to begin with.

Really nice pen to draw with, I should give it more attention.

A quick sketch of my right foot.
My foot isn't pretty but it does a lot for me and is in general underappreciated. The Narwhal pen is much prettier. I'm not sure what the ink is.

Art Ink In October No.24

A Sphinx and a Manticore have found some romance.

The LAMY AL-Star and the Pilot Metropolitan have helped with it, the purple-ized Pelikan Rose Quartz and the black ink in the Pilot's cartridge.

Art Ink in October No.23 A gryphon is having a big stretch! Drawn with a LAMY AL-Star. The ink is what happened when I filled the empty but not clean purple LAMY cartridge with the new Rose Quartz that Pelikan so kindly gave Pelikan hub attendees in Australia. Thank you Pelikan!

@rdm suggested Three Thirsty Tatzelwurms - we were discussing them last night. They're an unusual dragon variant from the European Alps with the facial features of a cat. I tried to go for a generic folk art sort of look here. It's the Robert Oster red orange again with the pretty Conklin.

What is a small indie type movie, that you think never really quite got its due?

My Choice: Sanctuary (2022)
There's a kind of movie I love that is basically black box theater, a room, a few actors, very little in the way of effects, all the weight of the movie is on the acting, directing, and writing, and this movie delivers that. I guess you would call it a sexual thriller, but it's about perception, power dynamics, and intentions. It keeps you guessing until the end, and even then...it's on Hulu if you have a subscription.

As Time Goes By.

This movie featured Max Gillies as the Alien, Bruno Lawrence and Nique Needles as the surfer with a date! So funny, so Australian and alas, no one seems to have the rights after the cinema chain that created it was no more. But it can be seen here for now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh2jmOqNizY

Art Ink in October No.21

Once upon a time a mouse spirit and a mighty dragon king fell in love. It's quite a story as to how that came to pass. But this is not that story. This is the story of the first child of their union and of their very first adventure, before their siblings came into the world.

Pilot Metropoliton and whatever came in its cartridge.

I only spent 20 minutes drawing because it's been something of a day.

It's one of those grumpy unicorns you see in mediaeval art, the sort that's all try to gore you first, ask questions later. Robert Oster's Signature Red Orange Ink and the Conklin fountain pen were used.
Quick drawing today.

Art Ink in October No.17

Today is @rdm 's birthday so I asked him to choose me a prompt for today's drawing. He thought for a moment and then said he'd like four frolicking merfolk. And then he added, maybe they might even turn out to be four feisty frolicking merfolk. I've done my best to oblige! There's a range of fountain, dip and brush pens and a waterbrush that's been used here. I do like that Van Diemen's Land Kingfisher glow ink, and it's been used here quite a bit. Not bad for around 3 hours work, it's a bit bigger than the ones I've been posting - special day for my sweety!

Kaya koorda - Hello friends and the 16th entry is just me doodling a whole bunch of things that you might see here in beautiful Nyoongar boodja and writing the name - in this case the words are from Aunty Sharon Gregory's Marribank orthography based dictionary - there are several different sources, this is the one I'm using.

My Nyoongar language teachers tell their students that it is quite okay for non-Nyoongar people to share what we have learned, but they ask us not to go out there and teach others.

It's a Cross pen which I thought I'd cleaned out adequately before I put some Noodler's Cactus Flower ink in it which is a bright vermilion colour. Oh well, perhaps it will get brighter as we go on, there's obviously still something else making its..mark.

@firstdogonthemoon For something positive to do people could sign up to the https://www.reconciliation.org.au/ newsletter and/or join the reconciliation organisation in their state. In Western Australia, where the result was known even before voting was over :-/ - it is https://www.recwa.org.au/ and there's a whole bunch in https://reconciliationnsw.org.au/local-reconciliation-groups/ South Australia has https://reconciliationsa.org.au/ and Victoria has http://www.reconciliationvic.org.au/ https://www.arrcs.org.au/about-us/reconciliation might be worth looking at in the NT? Not sure. Queensland has https://www.rqi.org.au/ and https://rectas.com.au/ in Tasmania (No, Aboriginal people were not all wiped out there folks) I encourage everyone to look into these organisations - post ones I've missed and offer them your support - I'm sure it will be appreciated at this very difficult time.

I'm very tired so I did this for you in about 5 minutes. @rdm said I should draw something sleeping as I was so sleepy, so this dragon obliges. We got a Pelikan Dragon pen with some Kaweco green ink I think in it, and probably Qwink in the Platinum Maki-e Brush Pen - Sunrise and Cranes.

I had an email from Reconciliation WA ths morning. I'll quote it here.

"Australia's reconciliation journey continues

Yesterday’s referendum result is a profound disappointment to us all.

Despite this setback the work of reconciliation will continue. It is needed now more than ever.

Reconciliation WA Co-Chair Carol Innes said that Australia must now come together to turn what has often been a disappointing narrative into a shared commitment for reconciliation.

“Western Australians must ask now ourselves whether this is the standard we are prepared to accept in our society. We can do better.” Carol said.

“Whilst we are saddened by this result, this is not the first time our people have experienced setbacks to their aspirations.”

“We pay respect to the courage and example of our Elders and leaders who have walked this journey for many years.”

Reconciliation WA is buoyed by the enormous contributions of our supporters who worked the length and breadth of Western Australia during this campaign and who, as part of a movement, have worked to change the country for the better in the past 30 years.

We are encouraged by the public support of a broad range of people including Australia’s young people and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Yesterday, as a nation we stumbled on our reconciliation journey. We must acknowledge and sit with this.

However, we are confident that after the dust settles, the hundreds of thousands of Western Australians who voted Yes, and those who voted No - but who are committed to better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - will unite for a more just Australia.

As part of a network spanning the country, we recognise and celebrate everyone in Western Australia who showed up for recognition, for respect, and for voice, and applaud the generosity and effort of everyone involved.

Now is a time for healing.

We are determined to continue the journey of reconciliation in Western Australia and urge you to continue as well. "

Some purely Western Australian wildlife this time for Art Ink In October No.14. This is a Quokka, a friendly macropod sketched from a photo I took on Wadjemap where they attract tourists in droves. The fountain pen is same as No. 4 in bog standard Parker Quink black ink with a Pilot Kakuno fine nib.

No.13 I didn't let myself think about too much, because I've always been a bit intimidated by drawing Willy Wagtails - or Djidi-Djidi as they're sometimes called on Nyoongar boodja. They're a very black and white bird, charismatic, small, fast moving and cheeky. So I just grabbed a lucky - they're so fast! reference photo I or Rob had taken earlier and just drew quickly, trying to get the feel and not fretting about it a lot. Less than an hour. All of my October inking here is pen straight to paper, I've never wanted to make a pencil outline more!
