Is there a #macOS key combo to switch keyboard layout when you have multiple configured?

I have US & Dvorak which i switch between when i'm using a real keyboard vs the laptop.

BUT i've been somehow accidentally swapping it to Dvorak while only touching my "real" keyboard and I dunno how. I don't see anything that matches what I'm experiencing in the support docs.

Does anyone know of a "Swords and Sorcery" RPG setting where the main characters aren't constantly breaking into the homes of sentient beings and slaughtering them to either get their loot or get past them to get someone else's loot?

Like, just because trolls are ugly doesn't mean they're not sentient beings who talk and have a society. When the goblins took up residence in the tower some wizard abandoned 100 years ago it became their home. You're the ass-hole if you break in and kill them.

This is my official re-coming out post.

For those who do know, my recent voyage into Boyville was a side-trip. The vehicle has been happily repointed towards Girlville and I've "got the pedal to the metal."

As a result of my contract ending, the "start date" has been moved up to Today. Transitioning at work sucks, so best to do it before whatever job comes next.

"Human Resources" -> you are just resources to be replaced
"People Ops/Operations" -> our people's operations must be controlled
"Chief People Officer" -> our people need policing.

what about...
"Human Relations" -> our people are humans who we need to relate to. (implied no "Human Relations Officer" because then you're policing how humans relate).

or... i'm sure there's a wordsmith out there who can come up with something better

We just went and got our free Covid shots at CVS. It was freaking weird because this is the United States and all interactions with medical personnel must involve bureaucracy, paperwork, and exchange of funds.

This time it was walk up, say I’m here for the appointment I had to pre-scheduled, get the shot and be sent on my way.

I left the store, feeling like I had just shoplifted .

Continuing with the many Adulting tasks, I am attempting to connect the battery leads of the ambulance to the two new batteries of the ambulance.

I have been out here for at least half an hour. I have utilized hammers, boards, wrenches, and desperately wished for a car jack that was only 1 inch high in its closed state, I have 1 positive lead on completely & the other positive lead on mostly I am going to attempt to screw it down now, because I honestly don’t think I can do better than mostly

This morning’s observation of just how much #capitalism fucks things:

The concept of owning a dog is so ingrained in the idea of a standard American household that it is standard for every president to have a “first dog”.

Meanwhile: it is also standard for dogs in America to only get walked twice a day. This is not because dogs only need / want two walks a day, but because capitalism doesn’t give a fuck what you or anyone else in your family needs.

I find that my most important skill (that i'm still working on) as an #actuallyautistic person trying to communicate with allistic people, is developing and listening to the little voice that says "don't say it".

• it doesn't matter that they didn't actually answer your question. They seem satisfied with their decision

I was just setting up the emergency medical info on my phone, when I was reminded that this phone has the emergency satellite communication feature.

I only upgraded because my old phone had become frustratingly slow, and no it wasn’t throttling for battery. That’s a side issue though.

That is a pretty nice thing to have in addition to the upgraded cameras, especially for someone who, in “the before times” had a tendency to travel to areas with no cellular reception.

A while ago Charmbracelet released a little script to generate #git commit messages which adhere to the "Conventional Commit Standard".

The idea is good, but i've got issues with the "Standard" and wanted more features for work at prior job. Restarted using it today because i'm working on a branch I can't rebase, but have to keep pulling in from the main branch. Thus, finding my work for THIS branch/ticket is nigh-impossible.

So, i started using my script again

regarless of what you think of Bezos, you have to give him credit for thinking long term.

SO.... why does it seem like amazon is trying to screw over book publishers and authors as hard as possible? 🤔 Wouldn't it be in their best interest to use their power to facilitate a healthy book ecosystem that enabled publishers to publish more things and writers to write more things that could then be sold on amazon?

What am I missing here?

Trying to find ways to improve our #Rails CI performance. Started going down the rabbit hole of parallelization. Something about our weird legacy test suite == 🔥💥🔥 when i use turbo_tests or flatware-rspec.

Whatever. Legacy stuff is legacy.

BUT it occurs to me that I probably wouldn't have this problem if the powers-that-be would have let Rails development switch to using rspec years ago to match literally every rails dev who doesn't work at basecamp.

I have paid my estimated state and federal taxes. As per usual the process has nearly brought me to tears. Not because of the $$ (although ouch) but because the process is so fucking hostile to my autistic 🧠

I would have never figured it out without my wife's help, and that's with just saying "fuck it" and guessing at a number rather than actually filling out the 1040-ES form which i tried last time and utterly failed at.

Kagi has just taken on its first external investment. I'm happy to see that it's a small amount ($670k) and to hear that it's mostly from existing users.

One of the things i like about Kagi is that it's goals are aligned with mine. The more useful of a search engine he makes it, the more people will be willing to pay for it, the more money he makes.

it's the simple "build a good product that people want and charge money for it" model which is beautiful.

Today is the 1st day of Hispanic Heritage Month in the US.

1st. Thank you to all the amazing people we encountered in our journeys through Latin America.

2nd. It starts in the middle of a month? W. T. (absolute) F.⁉️ That feels like a white-person dick move.

3rd. I now realize we have friends from many places, and backgrounds, but none of them (AFAIK) are hispanic. 🤔
