Before you comment on my photos of Cookie to tell me you think it's really sad and abusive that I put shoes on her, perhaps consider that you don't live on a street full of broken glass and needles and human poop, and I do. I don't do this for fashion, I do this because she's literally gotten sick being around this stuff.

After a few restful days, Cookie is back to trying to eat trash on the streets. Probably fitting that she almost went out because of a digestive disorder. Her vet notes say, ‘patient has a history of dietary indiscretion’

Trash is truly her passion no matter what I feed her.

typing was still taught on typewriters. And the correction ribbon was removed from all of them so your mistakes couldn't be hidden either.

someone I know had a typewriter with a built in spell checker, so definitely some computation going on in it.

though it choked on "syster" which could have been "sister" or "system". It was satisfying to break it on the first try 😜

One of the dumber people I know from undergrad is a physician. Beware out there. Do research and critically assess any professionals you employ. Somebody had to be at the bottom of the graduating class.

if possible, check any professional review sites. I was referred to one doctor who'd "resigned" his license about the same time a disciplinary note had been placed on his public file, and had only regained a license to practice 3 months earlier.

explains why the referral response was instantaneous but, yea, no, certainly not after reading note, and the average 2.2/5 reviews.

unfortunately finding a family doctor who's even taking new patients in Ontario is impossible, so at least I have one of those? sigh.

living in jakarta and mumbai before san francisco is also one of the reasons my view of it as a 'big city' is impossibly skewed. the first two: 10-13 million people

only having visited Mumbai, I still have no idea of it's size, and just remember endless sprawl. And that raised freeway over that went on forever over the Muslim area in the city.

years ago, a house down the street exploded (bbq tank was dropped, neck broke and leaked, pool heater pilot ignited it, then shrapnel hit the pool heater propane tank, and took out the house, nobody was home but the painters who dropped the tank and ran) and my grandma who was staying with us thought our house was exploding.

thankfully(?) we just don't have the lived experience to know what's what? but damn it's fun on the nerves ...
