Apple telling employees in San Diego that the only way they could keep their jobs was to move to Austin was tantamount to firing most of them, and disgusting beyond measure, especially for female employees for whom moving to Austin could potentially be a death sentence in a complicated pregnancy under horrific Texas laws.

Apple also spent $1B on their new Austin campus. Now they can't get anyone to work there. The relocation move is lousy and reprehensible but Texas wasn't as dangerous when the plan was hatched

again i don't disagree, though there was some hope for Beto pulling an upset, and some wisheful thinging that Texas wouldn't go off the deep end for realz.

Austin used to be a good place for tech, Apple was slow to the party, and "It's business, not personal"

Now anyone who can leave Austin tech is doing so, or has already left.

My MIL got a pacemaker today. I think it's amazing that you can get one and leave the hospital the same day or next day.

One of my kids called me when they were in college and told me they were going to pick vegetables on a farm with their friends during the summer. I had a partner who was single when me met explain she was bi/poly and was that an issue? Honestly I had no idea at the time. And given we were the only two involved with each other it didn't really figure into things until she met someone else. She wanted to be complete girlfriends and share everything and I said I don't know what that means but...
She turned out to not like being complete girlfriends, when I gave her crap about how she was treating the other person.

Conservatives right now are enraged and say that the 14th amendment, which is “old and obscure”, should be ignored, yet the 2nd amendment–which is 78 years older–must be followed to the letter even with whole words and sub-sentences removed.
