I’m seriously considering buying a bunch of Bluetooth earphones and gifting them to anyone I see blaring a video or game or music in a quiet public place from their phone.

What do you think, shall we crowdfund it for the sanity of us all?

@aral I have a downstairs neighbor who is a wannabe-singer and a smoker, and who often perches on her balcony listening to her own recorded voice from the phone's speakers and smoking well past midnight. She is well-off and can afford a place for band practices but has rejected every single piece of advice for reducing both the noise and secondhand smoke that regularly comes from her place. At this point I can either crowdfund a nuke and/or a new place to move away to. 🥴

I can't believe my luck. I'm on a train, and my carriage is 50% kids on a school trip and 50% pensioners on their way to a health resort. both groups are very high on my list of the worst fellow passengers. wow

@reginasbread Hahaha, an absolute horror. At least half of them will proceed with phone conversations, then grab a bite of their reeking leftovers, take a nap, snore a little, rinse, repeat. I'm alaways amazed at how many arrive early, buy the most greasy and smelly food, and then wait 20 minutes to board and start eating. 🤢

@reginasbread I know only one person who likes raisins - myself. I love them in cakes, I love them covered in chocolate, I love them in muesli. I BUY raisins to put them in my meals. 🍇✨

    @darth Have you purchased something you didn't NEED and this is your qualms speaking? 😁 I'm sure you know that for a bunch of (even tech-savvy) people it's usually a combination of out-of-the-box convenience and overall (long term) support of "commercial" devices and software. Some Linux distros even though free to download and use are quite "commercial." Why does an average household in Croatia have two (or more) cars? Why are YOU still on Twitter/X, if you don't NEED it? 🙂

    every time I spend hours on unnecessary musings and silly creations, I have this capitalism related fears that omg, I'm not productive, I'm not talented, I don't make money, no one needs this, it gives me nothing.
    I have to remind myself that being creative is not a talent. I don't actually need talent to be allowed to be creative. my brain just wants to play, and it's a valid reason.
