I am suffering from a tick borne infection of some sort,

Basically the protocol at least at urgent Care centers is.

Tick bite, + symptoms => A course of antibiotics.

I am cool with that, and glad I didn't go to my doctor who may have been less likely to prescribe.

So yeah, FYI, if it is more than just the usual itch, and your lymph nodes get in on the action, visit a doctor.

We need an AI agent that goes out and kills ticks, a hummingbird sized tick eater.

@EVDHmn @WilliamRobert fundamentally she was a Taoist, a view that clarified as she got older, but the kind of Taoist that creates their own poetic translation of the Tao Te Ching. In terms of social philosophy she was feminist, ecological, antiwar/pacifist in the general sense. She wrote stories in which violence was never glorified or seen as a viable solution. IMO she is the most important figure in the transition to modern SF from the culturally naive "Golden Age" of Heinlein, Asimov etc

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@EVDHmn @WilliamRobert what this quote refers to is likely the fact that she created plausible seeming societies in which structures like power hierarchies, capitalism and gender-role conformity don't exist or are seen as pathological. She wasn't the only one doing that in her era (Delany in particular) but she's had the greatest impact

I chuckled at Kreutzmann having an index entry for "horses, cocaine and" in his bio (p. 231 if you're wondering). I thought it was just a BK/Benjy Eisen thing.

But of course I am an infinitely ignorant fool. Because, of course:

cocaine's for horses not for men
doctor say it kill you but they don't say when
cocaine done killed my honey dead

Well played.

note to self: I see now this is the second time I have made that same connection, as if fresh and new, 3 years apart.

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@FateMusic it always seemed wild to me that this was a real old song, hearing Doc Watson do it and stuff...from a modern perspective it feels like cocaine was invented in 1968 and went big in its first decade but it's been fucking people up for well over a century

@bourgwick Buell Neidlinger is a cool af little dude, we booked him at the first String Summit outside of Portland to play with someone or another (possibly Dawg? he was there) and I think do a workshop. He seemed to like that the kids running the hippie bluegrass festival knew he was a jazz guy too

I bought this album in 1970 while in high school, for no other reason than I was mezmorized by the cover art, and heard that Miles is hip and I should be listening to him. At the time, I didn't get it and shelved it for years. It took being exposed to much more music to understand what genius is contained on these disks. So much history and influences are amalgamated into this music.

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@digginjazz for me this was the album that opened up everything. A friend put it on late at a party when everyone was in a perceptive and receptive mindset and within minutes I realized I knew nothing about music at all

Dallas looks like they know exactly what they're doing. Minnesota doesn't. Might be all there is to this series really.

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@emarktaylor yeah the two teams are really closely matched. But when one closely matched team is executing in the endgame and the other isn't, it's decisive. Wolves can def turn it around but at this point it will take sustained next level excellence from Ant to do it.

I'm not usually a Rudy defender but i feel like it's time for people to let that go. Guarding Luka alone on the perimeter while he dances isn't what he won the award for. No one in the league can do it reliably so 🤷

mrcompletely, to nba
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

#nba questions tonight

I know it's cheap, simplistic, inaccurate, surface level analysis to say this is on Ant. But if Minnesota wants to win, isn't this still really kinda on Ant?

26 minutes for KAT? I know it was the Naz game but there were a bunch of possessions he should've been in there. Maybe including that last defensive possession. What's up with that rotation?

Speaking of that last defensive possession: what the hell? (also: lol)

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@claude yeah so it was def funny to see him on skates because he's so long, he looked like a baby deer. But the play isn't his fault. Defending a wizard one on one on the perimeter isn't his thing, just as you say. My point is the team shouldn't have hung him out there like that. That's not his job

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@jdm2 sub KAT for Rudy? Where was KAT? To me that's the play

The people behind the Billy Strings fan site Billy Base know what the hell they are doing and understand information at a level I haven’t seen much in the world of popular culture.

Real-time set lists, metadata, authorship, when it entered the rotation, history of being played, lyrics, etc.

Really well done. 🙌🏼🫡

https://billybase.net

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@bsletten Billybase is an excellent example of a fan driven setlist site. Similar sites include https://kglw.net/ (King Gizzard), https://brownbase.org/ (Ween), Phish.net, https://jerrybase.com/ (Grateful Dead and Garcia, one I help admin) plus most if not all of the major jam bands like Widespread Panic. Basically any act that plays a different setlist every night and has fans that are also jam band fans or part of that culture is likely to have a similar site (of varying quality)
