@ai6yr Makes sense, that area always floods bad. I can't believe anyone would park there unless they didn't know it would be raining. (The real flood surprise was the Ocean View area where the storm drains weren't cleaned...)

@patterfloof @soatok I hate that in so many situations (especially healthcare or other official stuff like legal or government stuff etc) my options are call, call but with telephone tag over messages, use badly designed webform and call to discuss the problems from it, or LLM chatbot that is programmed for 3 or 4 questions

And it's not even like some of the criticisms can't, themselves, be criticized - e.g. demands for stronger corporate crackdowns on copyright are a "cure" worse than the problem that will hit human media archival preservation and sharing harder than it will generative AI, and creation of sentient intelligence -the big fear in the TESCREAL crowd - is an entirely imaginary risk -

but there's lots of real problems with AI and other new technologies that this guy is denying

@ai6yr Aww. Wish it could help my sister, but she inherited this money pit of a mobilehome from our parents.

Which actually left her worse off.

(One thing the state needs to do with these is not include ownership of a modular home/mobilehome as ownership unless it's on private land, as park-sited ones are essentially "rental, but you have to pay for all your own repairs/on-space problems")

@ai6yr (and, for the record - from her experience, I learned apartments are always a better option than mobilehomes/modular homes in parks. You're not paying twice until you pay off the mortgage, you're not still paying rent once you own the damn thing after 25+ years - and it's breaking down and needing repairs, and the park itself can evict you because paying for a plumbing emergency meant the yard grows up a couple months

@mhoye Which has actually made me wonder if one way of reducing military bloat (and note, this is a reformist socialist stop the bleeding idea, not an anarchist one, but I'm suggesting it because it would be a doable option in our current situation from mainstream politics) would be reestablishing a modern WPA - except expanded.

(Ideally, I'd prefer people leaving the power structure of government entirely for equal collectives working together, and I think those goals could work together)

@britt I love seasonings myself, salt and pepper mixed will do if nothing else is there, but there's so many other options too. Paprika, zaatar, ajika, curry seasoning, furikake nomi (for rice or ramen or dumplings), nutritional yeast (salty AND cheesy while being plant-based and a b vitamin boost :) ), sooo many more

the one thing I hate the most (unless I have to eat it for some reason) is food that's bland/unseasoned/seasoned only for heat

umami and complex flavors are good

I think the way to ethically engage with anything is proper context and labeling (e.g. did you draw it yourself or photograph it yourself, or did you take it from somewhere and edit it, or was it generated and by what tools)

Because context and labeling allows for proper credit even if content or labor from others is incorporated, it allows for other people to replicate what you did, themselves, to prevent copyright and capitalist-style gatekeeping, etc

@ai6yr oh ouch! I think my worst hairstyle was a DIY disaster back in I think around 2013 ish - I dyed my hair black then tried to bleach it a few months later, ending up with reddish. Learned from then on if going from super dark to super light just pay for a professional

And then there was the time I tried for blonde and got orange

That said, I've had more successes than fails, and I think over 2008-present I've had hair across not just the rainbow but the Pantone spectrum

@ai6yr @mjausson Haha, except I'm not a woman ;) I was very much into visual kei at the time, though (and still do like a lot of the artistry/the unique looks, even if I'm even LESS capable at pulling them off than I was back then)

@ai6yr @mjausson (e.g. I now have age working against me as well as weight, haha. But I used to do the full v-kei androgyny thing and it was fun - if a bit far more effort than I feel like expending now to do fullface stage makeup, or the hairstyles, or picking out an elaborate outfit for some styles. If I went live more with myself on camera, I might try to get back into it though ;) )

@ai6yr @mjausson I used to have pink a lot back when. Once I had a chance for a pro stylist to do a look like one of hide's and it turned out super well, I think that was like the coolest hair I ever had.

Bad contracting work is the worst. There's quite the stories here (literally, this place is falling apart from not being put together properly in 2017, and then there was the plumbing nightmare from last year that cost $1500 and still left the toilet in my sister's bathroom unfixed).

If your insurance will cover it definitely hire an inspector to check their work and do the necessary demands for you (if not, keep an eye yourself if possible)

@kitoconnell THIS. I feel like I've been shouting this from the rooftops since the beginning - way, WAY, WAY too many people (including her) have used Israel's attack on Gaza as a way to reputation wash themselves (or worse, wash that bullshit itself as somehow validated)

Everything from antisemites to people just fine with imperialism and genocide when it's Russia doing it, to fascist collaborators/entryists, to far right movements/nations/media

people need to be careful here
