Reddit is killing 3rd party apps. Why? Those 3rd party apps filter out Ads and spam/scams and have good focus on usability. Reddit want only two options: Their shity Website or official app to show you more Ads. This is why the central cloud and forums are evil. The biggest Lemmy instance is rashist nazi. Stalin or Hitler tbh idgaf which was your 'best genocider-evar' idol. If you support the genocidal fascist oligarchy committing war crimes in Ukraine then you are a nazi for real. It's kind of a tell.

war: Russia says it thwarted major Ukrainian offensive" probably true, sadly, happened in Kherson, they never report it, which is weird cos everyone actually Ukrainian finds out from russian telegram

@maiamaia interested to know why you think it is true given that the Russians lie with every breath about absolutely everything.

@insights@mastodon.social avatar

If anyone doubts 🙄

  1. Ukraine did not have access to the dam unlike the Russians, who also had access to internal structures

(that alone is enough)

  1. No projectile/rocket will do that much damage

  2. The Russian mined the dam from the inside, filmed and showed it already 1/2 year ago

  3. Since February, the reservoir has been filled by Russians at max level

  4. Ukraine has "nothing else to do" but to send all its reserves there and evacuate its own people...

nf3xn,
@nf3xn@mastodon.social avatar

@insights nobody with half a brain even considers it, you don't have to be a civil engineer to know it. Unless you are Corbyn was right @paul loser actually just making it up as he goes along claiming Ukraine wasted HIMARS all year on the dam. They make it up themselves. They do not even need to talking points. It doesn't have to make sense since the ones they are trying to convince are themselves.

Mastodon is my confessional. In the 1990s, I adjusted the command.com on a DOS/Windows box which, to my horror, was taken as the company reference build and supplied to Dell to install on all new PCs supplied to the company.

It was not particularly well-received once it started turning up.....

@gcluley possibly a Sticky Pickle as made "famous" by Carole? 😂

nf3xn,
@nf3xn@mastodon.social avatar

@SecuriLee @gcluley lol the first 'hack' I probably ever did was to use a program called debug to edit the command.com strings to do shit like this to mess with people. good tiems

KHERSON, Ukraine (AP) — A major dam in southern Ukraine collapsed Tuesday, flooding villages, endangering crops and threatening drinking water supplies as both sides in the war scrambled to evacuate residents and blamed each other for the destruction.

nf3xn,
@nf3xn@mastodon.social avatar

@pdougmc The size and location of the simultaneous blasts and the extent of the damage only possible with demolition mines make it very obvious that these was an outrageous terrorist act carried out by the invaders.

Even Prighozin says Russian claims are absurd. Not sure wtf AP are smoking tbh.

nf3xn,
@nf3xn@mastodon.social avatar

@pdougmc The real question now is what the world's response should be. I am ready to melt sand but maybe close the skies for the offensive would be more measured.

Russians need to stop their bullshit performance art protests and start rioting.

The dam is under Russian control.

It's destruction mostly floods Russian controlled areas and washes away Russian fortifications.

It lowers the water level where could cross the Dnieper at the ZNPP during their offensive.

It can deprive Crimea of water.

Last summer we saw Ukraine fire dozens of HIMARS into the dam.

has zero military incentive to destroy the dam. Ukraine has plenty, especially knowing they can just blame Russia and the West will repeat it.

nf3xn,
@nf3xn@mastodon.social avatar

@darthstar @paul

Game attempt trying to argue with this dickhead.

"So if Belgorod Oblast is Russia then why are Russia bombing it right now?"

Actual shit for brains.

Except nobody is this wilfully gullible - even Prighozin calls this "absurd science fiction".

Assume malice.

Scum like this need to be sent to Russia.

Being an elder of the internet is actually kinda fascinating in some ways.

I watched so many of the bigger sites start out and find their footing.

I knew eBay when it was a tiny marketplace. And Amazon when it only sold books.

I knew sites like teeturtle before it was just another art factory.

I knew woot! when it actually had real discounts and wasn't just another Amazon affiliate.

The Space Jam website wasn't some kind of Internet artifact. It was cutting edge!

And I remember using a 33.6k modem (that's right - not even 56k yet!) to try and load a website. I'd walk away for dinner and when I came back, there was a 50/50 chance the site had failed to load. And you didn't just try again because now mom has to use the phone - maybe tomorrow?

I watched AOL rise and fall. Myspace rise and fall and do a dead cat bounce. And Facebook was only for college kids.

Oh, and there were more than just 3 websites and Google didn't exist.

The internet really doesn't look like it once did.

The of the Nova Kakhovka creates a new and in the centre of the zone. The vast reservoir behind it is (or should I write “was”?) one of the main geographic features of southern , 240 km (150 miles) long and up to 23 km (14 miles) wide. Standards of journalism require that "both sides" be given a chance to speak. If there's anyone I'd want to see uploaded to The Cloud to live forever, it's Noam Chomsky. We lost David Graeber so young, and legendary fact-staters like Chomsky and John Pilger are fighting the good fight long after they deserve to kick back with the beverage of their choice. Who can we rely on to be speaking truth to power so relentlessly, and so effectively, in 20 years time?

I've been seeing lots of "the sky is falling" takes around Red Hat pulling out of LibreOffice RPM maintenance in Fedora. Here's a reality check: the vast majority of packages in Fedora are not maintained in an official capacity (i.e. part of their job) by Hatters. That's because only a small subset (~10%) of Fedora packages make it into RHEL. Currently RHEL 9 has 6,501 RPMs (from 2,393 SRPMs), while Fedora 38 has 60,807 RPMs (from 23,281 SRPMs).

nf3xn,
@nf3xn@mastodon.social avatar

@dalias @dottorblaster @carlwgeorge SoT is a common industry term. The version is the official version, trusted, verifiable, intended, correct version as determined by the owner and lives here. I guess if you don't trust RedHat's version of truth then you have no business using their distro. The point is having multiple systems might mean that there could potentially be divergence or ambiguity about which is the 'correct' one or even if is trustworthy at all.
