I typically like to post about digital human rights, FOSS, and other emerging technology.

My favorite media is currently scifi and fantasy that is sort of realistic with a heartwarming ending. I do find I am rather enjoying a few silly fantasy soaps lately, but I feel like I can be rather selective in this area, because of how ridiculous and corny silly media can get sometimes, haha.

See, this is the kind of thing that makes me think that is just not going to be willing to take the ethics of this seriously and that will not be able to sway them to a better course.

@hrefna I don't know anything about what you are talking about so I am hesitant to weigh in, but have you reached out to them on fedi about your concern? I have interacted with them before on here and they are generally nice people that seem to be trying to give access to technology to everyone. I don't think they are trying to run on a pyramid scheme they seem like they can barely keep the lights on. This account has openly asked the fedi for business advice before. All I can say is they have also supposedly tried to collaborate with the hugging face company to use their data set but they never heard back.

Please U.S. citizens. Call your senators, representatives, the whitehouse(?). Tell them to stop (vote no on) KOSA now. This horrible legislation might actually pass this week if we don't do anything about it. It has got 40 Senators sponsors( Republicans and ~20 Democrats). The President of U.S.A. is pushing to pass it.

People outside the U.S. there is always knock on effects with this kind of legislation. Systems are only as strong as the weakest link. We are all interconnected. Please also spread the word!

*How will fediverse comply with this law? Will they have to shutdown?

How does the expect to maintain its culture when an instance arrives with 70 million accounts (and still rising)?

What happened to all those who have been saying mastodon.social is way too big and is making the fedi centralised?

I understand where they’re coming from. They thought AT protocol was going to catapult over . And now Threads has chosen ActivityPub.

@atomicpoet @fediversenews The admin for universeodon.com, after meeting with Meta, suggested in a reply that InstagramThreads was also looking to connect with AT protocol too. This would be very smart in my opinion, but after seeing all the algorithm nonsense in their app, I wonder if they will get in their own way leaving the spaces to be bridged by the small/indie web here still.
