@shoq Not entirely. The 2nd US Constitution (1812) is a revamp of our 1st one, the Articles of Confederation (1777). Many sections, like 2A, are just restatements from the Articles. Here’s 2A from the Articles: every state shall always keep up a well regulated and disciplined militia, sufficiently armed and accoutred, and shall provide and constantly have ready for use, in public stores, a due number of field pieces and tents, and a proper quantity of arms, ammunition, and camp equipage.

@shoq Thanks for the 10 minutes of consideration. 2A simply isn’t needed to allow or disallow gun ownership. As you point out, its primarily left to the states. But what is true is promoting some other interpretation of 2A necessarily means we are weakening our safeguards against tyranny. Unless you believe that individuals with their comparative peashooters can do a superior job fending off a federal military equipped with tanks, F22 Raptors and space borne kinetic weapons.

@GottaLaff Okay, here it is!! My Sarcasmadamus prediction of how the Injustices will rule on Colorado disqualification. They will correctly say the Constitution is not some compendium of executable laws. They will then perform impressive legal gymnastics to assert that NO provision is self-executory without a law passed for it. They will then correctly declare that no such act in Congress or any state has ever passed after a century and a half. They will then strike down Colorado.

@GottaLaff Theyve eviscerated the rest of the 14th Amendment. Why not section 3 as well? Im with you. The important point here is that it demonstrates for the first time to a doubting American public that its indeed plausible to disqualify in the first place, since there’s been no leadership from above. So with a change in the tide of public sentiment, further good may then finally materialize.🤞 Hopefully SCROTUS will have to put up stronger fencing this time

@QasimRashid It a good thing a city council member doesn’t control the country’s actual policy. What I like to do is find all the low level wing nuttiest of wing nuts in various school boards, as well as animal control officers, road pavers, town budget managers and the like around this country and hold their Fox-infused opinions out to the world as the official domestic policy position of the United States of America. It makes me feel good and important.

@CelloMomOnCars Yemen is in the least vulnerable section because they are already well past peak oil production, where additional oil extraction is economically infeasible. Thats why Yemen is now a failed puppet state. When the rest of the world catches up, and big oil countries like Kuwait are less than a decade away, then the world will have no choice but to switch to renewables. Countries that don’t move in that direction now will soon be ass out.

ABOLISH THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE is a fn stupid cause. Set aside that people have screamed this every election since Lincoln and 0.0 has been done. Set aside too that since a bare majority of states are Red, the Rs would control rewriting the Constitution if this somehow proceeded🤪

Understand this instead: 48 states moronically give ALL their electors to the winner. If they instead split them according to the actual vote totals, as they are free to do, THE EC WOULD ALWAYS MATCH THE POPULAR VOTE!
