@paulthenerd The very reason I left what was then XFM at the time. This company is solely responsible for the death of local radio and there was some really creepy secret handshake stuff going between them and Ofcom. It wasnt until people took notice they had to look like they were doing something so sold a few stations and kept the names but nothing ever happened and that was now 15 years ago.
If this works on #SteamDeck I'll get it there. The lack of marketing is frustrating though which only feeds into my concern that Ninja Theory are in line to be shut down no matter what happens with the game #VideoGames#Xbox
#Hellblade2 is only two weeks away, and fans feel Xbox should be making more noise
I honestly think #Spotify has missed the boat on this one. Those who care about #Lossless will already be on #AppleMusic#Deezer or #Tidal; and those who don't care won't pay the extra to get it. The fact the aforementioned three services all include lossless in their base subscriptions while it will be an extra tier on Spotify won't help matters. #Music#Streaming
If they'd gone lossless a year ago it might have mattered. Now, not so much
Spotify lossless audio said to be close to launch, with third branding
@paulthenerd Im on spotify because it has deals with all the labels and has all the small indie bands. Tidal is missing stuff. Id love lossless on there.
Are you like me and hate the idea to stopping a #Reading session in the middle of a chapter to the point you will make yourself late for things to finish it?
Or are you a monster who thinks nothing of finishing up in the middle of a page?
@paulthenerd I'm a monster.
I certainly prefer stopping after finishing a chapter, but don't really mind too much if I have to put the book down in the middle of a page.
Last year, FF XVI was a flop (according to "industry analysts"), now #FF7Rebirth is "under performing" when compared with a game that released in the middle of a lockdown and before a cost of living crisis. Then there is the fact Remake released at the end of the PS4 lifecycle when the install base was at its peak, where Rebirth released in 2024 on PS5 only when the install base still hasn't caught up with the previous generation.
Let's be honest, there are indie companies who would jump at the chance to make Rebirth numbers. Yeah these "industry analysts" can suck the big one. #VideoGames
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is "underperforming", says industry analyst
@paulthenerd Square Enix is desperate to find an excuse to stop making jRPGs and focus on… I dunno, NFTs, AI, whatever the tech buzzword is this time around.
@paulthenerd I didnt even buy Cities Skylines 2 after 1000 hours on CS1. I dodged a bullet. So yea i generally wait a good few months for things be better and a price reduction. Games that are done well for release are few and far between imo
Yeah, #Telegram business practices are getting dodgy as hell. I'm glad now that I deleted my account a while back. They want to use your phone as a relay to send 2FA codes via SMS which isn't good no matter which side you're on
You may be offered a free premium Telegram subscription – but please don’t accept
@paulthenerd in terms of business it’s a brilliant idea. I wouldn’t subscribe to it for sure, but there are other similar ideas in different markets. Like sending your purchase to the next buyer instead of returning it to the shop.
I think it’s a bit weird to be drawing comparisons between #Safari and #InternetExplorer. Safari doesn’t and likely will never have the web browser market share and thus complete dominance that IE had. Its market share is tiny in comparison. A better comparison would be the #Chrome browser and the engine itself built on (yes it’s important to include the engine too) and you’ll see that Google’s dominance is more far reaching than Safari on iOS and is probably on the same level as IE back in the day at this point.
The “browser choice” warriors love to focus on iOS and ignore the bigger issue of the dominance of the #Chromium engine in the wider web browser market. All it’s doing is handing the keys of the web over to Google.
@paulthenerd@diazona that’s the big one for me. Safari is literally the only reason “web” doesn’t mean whatever Google wants. I support browser choice but it’ll be counterproductive unless it’s paired with a ban on cross promotion and a legal requirement that companies which make browsers have good support for competing browsers.
