If you get mad when you see employees at a business you are patronizing laughing, enjoying each other's company, and goofing off, you're a dick. Empathize with people working a shitty underpaid job, and let them enjoy what little fun they get.

@RickiTarr By the same token, please don't expect the staff to be overjoyed you're buying whatever product or service. Polite, professional are resonable expectations but you're not their best new friend and it's effort keeping that act up for a shift.

@JackTheCat The western doctrine towards Israel - Israel must never suffer consiquences for it's actions, also, any action against Israel must have severe consiquences - is as destructive as it is idiotic, and is also a huge bind to the countries subscribed to that doctrine.

@alveolar_thrill Aside from the very glib "lots of practice", it's not easy, the movements aren't particually natural and don't really fit movements that aren't swimming. A search on youtube should find you some good demonstrations of strokes. I know pulic baths used to do sessions for adult beginners but I've no idea if that's still a thing.

@simon_brooke I'm torn on this one as displacement is one of the key aims of the perpetrators and return is far from ensured to any Palestinian who leaves their land. That's obviously stacked next to the suffering being inflicted upon them.

Listening to several political podcasts from assorted British commentators this week, there seems to be a consensus that the 's motion was primarily a cynical ploy to embarrass .

This seems to me to be

a. Lazy;
b. Cynical;
c. Woefully ill-informed about Scotland;
d. Wrong.

Even ignoring the fact that the leader of the SNP's wife is , sympathy for the Palestinian cause on the left in Scotland is very widespread.

@emarktaylor @philip_cardella @nba @johnewing It's been a tough season for the Grizzlies -Adams being ruled out for the season just before it started didn't help - however I think there was too much "it'll be fine once we get Ja back" in the first 25 games (6-19), but after Ja went out the team has responded magnificently. We won't be involved in the post season but if the young guys continue to develop and play with pride next season could be really good.

I was posting earlier about the base at Sevastopol being the real strategic asset for Russia in Ukraine, but there they go again, proving the black sea fleet needn't be a thing much longer as the country without much of a navy at all sinks yet another Russian warship. Lolz.

    Listening to The Rest Is Politics this morning I've finally figured out Rory the Tory Stewart. His whole political understanding was formed in childhood reading books by Rudyard Kipling, Rider Haggard, Erskine Childers, W. E. Johns, T. E. Lawrence and John Buchan. It isn't that he's seen the modern party and failed to understand it; it's that he is so blinded by childhood preconceptions that he cannot see it at all.
