I saw that and assumed it was a spoof, then I realised it was a BBC article. Still suspect Joe Lycett's behind it.

Huh. Just paid my tax - I wouldn’t mind so much if I felt it was going to say, the NHS ✊. Instead I suspect- based on previous evidence - it’s just going to end up in the greasy hands of Tory donors, Tory mates, someone a Tory MP once met in a pub.

More likely Beefsteak, Boodles, Brooks, Bucks, East India, Garrick, Savile or the Whites club than a Weatherspoons I suspect.

The Commerce Commission has launched investigations into the country's two big supermarket chains.

The commission has confirmed it is looking at Woolworths and Foodstuffs, which operates New World, Pak'n'Save and Four Square.

Is it my imagination or do we see a variation of this headline at the start of each new government?

Wonder if it's so politicians can say that they need to wait for the CC to report on their findings before they do anything.

@Rjdlandscapes Would have to use Arthurs Pass instead for now, I noticed there is a couple through there. Though I'm kind of surprised that Hanmer Springs hasn't got one.

    On Today this morning, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak talked to Nick Robinson about his new committment to stop some of his government's planned measures on limiting climate change.

    The interview is on the Best of Today podcast, on BBC Sounds.

    "Best of Today" is perhaps unfortunate in this case.

    "Bggr*d Tomorrow" may be more appropriate title?

    Take some consolation from this, its another nail in Boris’s coffin.

    He’ll try and spin this saying it proves he would have kept the seat at the next election if he hadn’t stepped down. But that’s not the case.

    He was hoping that the seat would be lost weakening Sunak and he could claim “See it wasn’t because of me but the current leadership”

    shibashecurity, to windows

    Would someone answer a OneDrive, Mac and iOS question? As I know little of Apple.

    Basically does it all work like it does on Windows and Android?

    My friend has a personal 365 subscription, with OneDrive and the apps all working nicely on his Windows laptop.

    He wants to get it going on his Mac and his iPad, so that he can edit a spreadsheet on his Windows laptop, and then be able to open it on his iPad and it all be up to date (4G signal notwithstanding, obviously)

    Does it just work?

    pistonblown,
    @pistonblown@mastodon.nz avatar

    @shibashecurity Yep works well. I use OneDrive and Office 365 on various win 11 machines, a Macbook, iPad, Samsung tab S7 and even occasionally my iPhone they work well on all. The office functionality is obviously a little lighter on the the tablets and phone but still good enough for most things.

    I've also found OneDrive works better on a Mac than iCloud does on a PC which makes OneDrive a better choice if you go between both.

    I really enjoy riding the . It's a great little . I wish the engine was six or seven times larger than it is but for the money, you can't complain. Since it is a new Honda vehicle, I got a 1.9% interest rate and it was cheap enough that I should have paid off by the end of the riding season. You can't get much better than that.

    ... I'm probably going to start looking for a used NC750X, though.

    pistonblown,
    @pistonblown@mastodon.nz avatar

    @joe I’ve got a soft spot for small engined bikes, particularly Honda’s. I like the fact that often your using them to pretty much their limit all the time and yet they keep going all day. Plus the limits you hit are the bikes not your own, which is when things get painful. I’ve toured lots of Europe on a 125 and 175, both Hondas, and also Australia on 125 (Honda again). I’ve had plenty of big engined bikes as well but those trips were the most memorable.

    pistonblown,
    @pistonblown@mastodon.nz avatar

    @joe I subscribe to the “Vimes boots theory” when it comes to motorcycle gear. For example my jacket was sodding expensive when I bought it, but that was 30+ years ago. Its been down the road more than once, it has had to have a new zip a couple of years back, and soaked up a lot of dubbin wax over the years but its still going strong.

    SeaFury, to random

    Cold climate zone buildings are often orientated to the sun. In the northern hemisphere, maximum solar gain comes from the south, and in the southern hemisphere, it comes from the north. Instead of saying north or south facing, our language can become more global if we use the terms equatorial facing, or polar facing.

    pistonblown,
    @pistonblown@mastodon.nz avatar

    @uastronomer @SeaFury

    In Christchurch NZ there were several early government buildings that had most of their windows on the south because the plans were done in the UK and followed to the letter.
