I first came up with the idea for Söka a few months back while planning a trip to South East Asia later this year. I started building the app in mid-March, initially just to see whether I could make my ideas a reality.

2 and a half months later, I've shipped an app that I am so immensely proud of.

I suppose this is worth celebrating - this last week, I crossed US$5,000 in sales since I first opened Xcode nearly 10 years ago as a high-schooler!

This graph says it all - it took me about 6 years to break $100, 7.5 years to reach $1000, and now 9.5 to achieve $5000.

Persistence is key! Never give up!

I’ve had my own apps for nearly 10 years, but I’ve only started seeing real movement over the last 12-15 months.

With thanks to the incredible feedback from Söka’s beta testers, I’ve improved the bucket list generation screen.

Here it is in action, as part of the wider flow of generating a bucket list, adding it, and then viewing its goals in an interactive map.

What do you think? This is all built with #SwiftUI, with OpenAI’s #ChatGPT API used for generating the bucket list.

What’s the best app for cataloging a collection of physical movies? Looking for a barcode scanner and iCloud syncing. I’d love a shared library with my wife but basic syncing via iCloud and barcode scanning are the big ones.
