Is still the easy go-to solution for in a small family?

rabc,

@ctietze apparently, yes, but I’ve a setup of Actual in fly.io with their free tier and working well. Easy to deploy, only have to use their export option from time to time to have a backup.

I am using Airbnb, or trying to, to find my family a place to stay while visiting more family.

I'd love if all 4 of us could comfortably stay with family but it's just too much and we'll want our own space.

I am however very aware how homes that should be going to locals are increasingly being bought up and let out on airbnb instead.

I wish it was easy to find places outside of these silos, that weren't only hotels.

rabc,
@rabc@hachyderm.io avatar

@sarajw it is easier to find in Booking.com for places that are more like a whole building of flats for rent, with a reception, than just a regular house in a building with neighbours.

Still not good, but at least this mode is more “professional” and regulated than shady airbnbs that easily skips local regulations.

And I know flying taxis are wrong in principle

But this Volocopter Wissing wants to finance is crap in practice

Range: 35km
Wingspan: c. 12m

So you’re not easily going to find places to land it. So you’ll need a bus/metro/tram/taxi to and from where it takes off. To then go 35km

Ok, semi handy if there’s water in between. But beyond that..?

What’s the point?

rabc,
@rabc@hachyderm.io avatar

@jon the point is a whole generation of people with money that grew up reading SciFi and now want to make it real because they didn’t understand the era it was all written.

I have followed the Palestinian struggle since about 2000 and read every book I could on the subject.

But TikTok has really made this knowledge accessible to the public. The TikTokers know how to explain in small bursts like nothing I have seen before.

Accurate and concise.

rabc,

@dimillian I believe more and more that the randomness of the rejections are due to poorly trained reviewers that just started the work and long-time reviewers that knows to just check the surface of the apps.

, the size class is set to regular when the iPad app enters background. WTF. Apparently, it’s not a bug, as the iPad needs to take snapshots. Good luck in SwiftUI keeping the whole view hierarchy state when transitioning between a sidebar (custom) and a tabbar. This thing was built only with the NavigationSplitView in mind. Very stupid you can’t disable it.

rabc,
@rabc@hachyderm.io avatar

@dimillian it is incredible that since the beginning of iPad some kind of Split View/navigator is always pushed down our throats but it has few customisations and practical use after you leave the prototype version.

Any tips and tricks for getting more out of Raycast? 😀

I’ve used it for a couple of years but I mostly use it as a simple replacement for Spotlight and it’s excellent clipboard history and emoji browser. I feel like I’m missing out on some cool features 👀

rabc,

@simonbs I use a lot the snippets for repetitive code parts (“import”, “private let”, etc), Gitlab extension as a quick way to my merge requests (same for Jira).

Other small plugins like one to format the json from the clipboard.

    @krzyzanowskim It is the same with Spotify. The ✨Machine Learning ✨ gives you content based on your current location, not the language you want.

    It is specially nice when you don’t speak the local language so you can just ignore every single recommendation and ad.
