If you should come across a mysterious snake of worms, do the following:
Photograph it and upload your observations to iNaturalist.
Collect some larvae into strong alcohol and keep them in a freezer with a label indicating where & when they were collected.
Try to raise some to adult: keep a bunch of larvae alive in a plastic container with some rotting leaves from the site. Adult males (or DNA) are needed to confirm the species.
Not news, but still frustrating when you thought you were having a debate in good faith only to look at their profile & see they were just a shit-stirrer all along.
Overdraft fees are essentially just extremely high interest loans and they trap people in a cycle of debt. So this is yet another move from the current President to help most Americans.
If Trump and the GOP win in November, there will be no new federal rules and regulations to protect you. And likely repeals of any you have now.
@TonyStark And this can strike in surprising ways. I had 1 transaction unexpectedly hit just before another one, but the latter was broken up by the vendor onto 4 orders when I only placed 1. So that was 4 overdraft fees all at once. Reminds me of when I was late on a single student loan payment that covered 4 loans so my credit took 4 hits at once. The American credit system & non-optional trackers who leak your data so you are forced into both insecurity & public scrutiny is absolute bullshit.
Did I ever tell you I was named after a man, last name "Ryon", who was a cherished mentor of my mother? Sometimes I wish she'd kept the original spelling for it's uniqueness, but most of the time I think that would have been a pain in the ass for life.
@hollie There are STOP signs in Anchorage adorned with "Watch For Bicycles" stickers in memory of a local cyclist killed by a motorist under the influence. I may or may not be responsible for some.
Shit. Looks like the SSD in my laptop just died. So I guess I'm mobile-only until I have a solution. Didn't realize how much I leaned on the laptop until just now. Shit. SHIT.
The laptop lives! Huzzah! Minus a few working keys on the keyboard, but I've been there before. Okay, so rum may or may not have been involved. Oh, like You've never... Shut up.
Jesus, how many keyboards have I replaced in my life? This isn't even the first in this laptop. Good thing I'm mechanically inclined. One way to get good at fixing shit is doing it A LOT because you're a walking disaster. I've lost count of phone screens as well. In my defence that Nokia X6 was both a lemon and a princess. But I digress...
I blew a coworker's mind the other day just showing them tab stops in Word. I used to administer dozens of computer networks before I burned out & quit all my jobs. WTF am I doing in retail? I thought it would be a lot easier to get back into an IT admin job with my supposedly valuable skillset. I backed myself into this corner, but I don't like it.
Seen at Costco today. As a company known for its keen eye on value & quality, I trust them, but this episode of "Lost In Translation" tickled me. Still, I was tempted.
Boeing’s #1 problem is not that they lack a culture of accountability.
It’s that they hate unions and hate criticism. So many of Boeing's major actions in the last 20, even 30 years have had to do with their attempts to break unions and escape political pressure in Washington State. The payoff is pressing workers without enough training, denigrating and overruling the work of union employees, and outsourcing work to avoid increasing union employment. This has cost them $10s of billions.
headsmack No pics of mom's birthday dinner (bruschetta gnocchi topped with cajun prawns, balsamic asparagus side, flourless chocolate cake with raspberry drizzle) but it was good.
@Scatterseed@seachanger Is she, tho? I mean, if you can LOSE things in there, which I & most my friends absolutely have done, isn't it just a bit much?
@FlockOfCats Actually, you know what? Fuck it. I unapologetically sing ALL the emo rock songs, even if I'm not the intended generation, because I FEEL them.
@notsle That is an equally unlikely quantum state as it is a painfully obvious instruction. I want to know the thought process behind whichever genius mandated that stencil.
