For those who arenโ€™t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.

From the Microsoft FAQ: โ€œNote that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything youโ€™ve typed and viewed in one database.

@GossiTheDog I trust the guys that lost the golden keys to Azure, and don't know how they lost them, and detected nothing, and ๐“๐’พ๐‘’๐’น that "it was definitely disclosed in a developer's crash dump" to implement this securely.

"But it's encrypterd"! Yeah, but it's also meant to be accessed by the security principal known as "you". It persists a whole new class of stuff that used to be ephemeral. It is nothing but a fucking goldmine for infostealers.

Is it just me, or has Microsoft gone completely crazy? They are implementing spyware that takes screenshots every second and forcing AI integration. Why would anyone willingly purchase this? Anyone with experience in computer or information security knows that it is a bad idea, even if it is locally done. Just don't do it. Cursed??? C# question:

We have a ProjectName.csproj with a <PropertyGroup><OutputType>Exe</OutputType></PropertyGroup>. Running at the command line, we can successfully run it with dotnet run on Mac, Linux and Windows. On Mac, we can open it in VS Code, hit "Run", and it runs.

On Windows in VS Code only, if we open it and click the run button, it builds a .DLL instead of a .EXE as its final build output and then fails with a message that you cannot run a .DLL.

Why, and how do we not?

It's fun to blame Red Lobster going down because of all you can eat shrimp, but no one really emphasizes this bit:

"A private equity firm bought the chain ten years ago from Darden Restaurants.... The firm, Golden Gate Capital, funded the deal partly by selling Red Lobster's real estate.

The vlogger says "subscribe so you don't miss it!". At that exact moment, assuming you are not full screen, a little rainbow shimmer runs over the "Subscribe" button under the video.

โ€ฆdid the vlogger set a flag somewhere, or is Google doing speech rec to look for the word "subscribe" in videos and triggering a CSS effect when it finds it? Does this happen in all videos now?

Relieved to report that I am the proud and abandoned user of the abandoned but functional Sonos System 1 controller, because I have โ€œlegacyโ€ hardware components that have absolutely nothing wrong with them โ€” besides the fact that I bought them a long time ago. At least Sonos has continued to let the System 1 controller exist, I guess?

@halide that shouldn't be possible? I thought iOS had full disk encryption*, and it wiped the drive by forgetting the keys?

*on a per partition, per security domain basis. It even has a key to decrypt the "stuff that you can access while it's locked", and a different key for decrypting the rest of your stuff after unlocking.

If you're using Bitwarden*, you should probably log on to the website and increase the number of (will edit in later) rounds it uses. Once upon a time it was a ridiculously low number. They can't change the value without kicking you out of all of your devices, so it's up to you to change it.

It should be cranked up to where it takes a few seconds on your (probably rather fast) phone. I wish @bitwarden had a benchmark for this.

My setting is (to edit in later).

@Migueldeicaza little issue with La Terminal.

(I have iCloud "passwords and keychain" disabled. May be the problem.)
I start by making an Enclave Key on my ipad, stick that into my PC's authorized_keys. Then I go to my iPhone, find that the server deets have been iCloud sync'd except for the actual key. This is fine, I can roll a new Enclave Key on the iPhone, and add that to the PC's authorized_keys too.

This reviewer did go on to knock out a one hundred and ninety three word run on sentence. Okay, they commit all kinds of boring spelling and grammar sins, but I can't get over this spelling of "disguise". I guess??

What theory of "how letters work" got you here? Which language are you coming from, where this could have made sense?
