We witness cities having massive freak-outs over homeless encampments expanding, but no consideration as to the conditions in society that have created this problem. How do you not see this explosion in need and suffering and not think perhaps we are backing an incorrect and untenable economic system?

@LeftistLawyer As a marginalized person who has been homeless, you learn that it's all preventable. And there is one set of people that back capital.

In 116 days I won’t have a home to live in. I am looking for work. I am a senior security engineer with full stack security experience from layers one through seven. I even know how to train layer eight the person the operator. #FediHire

Hi, I'm looking to connect with other #python #engineer
I'm pivoting from security to #swe and have devoted this year to learning fundamentals of SWE.

But here's some of my sticking points - I don't know what I don't know.

I've been reading books about data science.

I have lots of experience in systems engineering, but that MIGHT not be the right structure for data. But it's the approach I took.

Would love input or feedback.

Too often, technological advances are not accompanied by discussion and design that considers negative impacts or unrealized potential.

Do you keep a log of incidental characters (e.g. shop assistants) or forget them once they've featured?

I have a document that I'm writing my current chapter in. It contains all the random notes I've made, usually some semblance of an outline, though I rarely adhere to it, and a list, in alphabetical order, of all the people, places and things in the book, so if I forget someone, or someplace, I can scroll to the top and look them up.

@rye@ioc.exchange avatar

@golgaloth I keep a journal of them. And update it as I write. It's kind of fun.

The Problem:

While there have been some attempts to document publicly disclosed security incidents, a fundamental problem exists: there is a lack of an all-encompassing, freely available, unprocessed dataset on security incidents that offers the depth required to support both community research and corporate decision-making. Various organizations do collect and, to some extent, share consolidated datasets, but these datasets are often not structured for easy data manipulation and transformation necessary for research. Additionally, the underlying data might not be openly accessible to the public. This deficiency has posed longstanding challenges for researchers investigating security incidents and for risk managers who lack access to dependable data for their risk assessments.
