I did it 🥳🎉!

First 10k and my PB so far. My net time was 01:02:12, i.e. a pace of 6'13"/km
My best training time so far has been 6'25"/km in 9 km, so I'm satisfied with my performance!

People cheering while passing by is a great motivational boost.

It is a speculative instrument only and of no value to man nor beast. The future is being sold of cheaply by the speculators, the ‘miners' and governments around the world.

@Wen during the in (2012), bitcoins and more generally crypto currencies, have been useful to the population.

Over night and without notice ATMs closed down, bank accounts were frozen and I remember that experienced its first significant peak in currency value because Cypriots started buying them through bank foreign accounts.

Sometimes the system fails and that might be one of the arguments in favour of cryptos.

Today starts off with a bracingly cold shower, yet again, because our new gas hot water heater apparently has a defective blower and the pressure switch gets stuck in the closed position. The new blower arrives this afternoon and hopefully resolves the issue.

If not, things become more complicated. This is part of a home warranty claim and you don’t have a choice in the plumbing company. There will be credible arguments that they are not competent. I hope we don’t get to that point.🤞

    @ronsboy67 @youronlyone @KDramaQn @kdrama @kdrama @kdrama interesting that you point out mysogyny in k-dramas. I drop most j-dramas because of it 😁
    Female characters in Japanese dramas are shallow, submissive and the male characters typically have more screen time.
    There are exceptions, like Unnatural, that I liked a lot, or two j-dramas I'm not sure I remember the title because I watched them years ago (one should be Tokyo Girl).
    Animals is a good one too.

    Nevertheless I hope they find a new plot line because there's not enough material to get to episode 16.

    @EllenInEdmonton The main issue imho is that it started with a crime solving plot and they had plenty of possibilities to develop that storyline with gangsters from Macao and a culprit not so easy to find.
    Now it's become a love story with focus on overcoming mental illnesses.
    So from 3 different storylines now we have only 2. And it's nothing like It's OK not to be Ok with plenty of different patients

    Still the leads and their chemistry is excellent imho. Ha Neul's family is great too!

    The hate on Bluesky is on a completely different level. I'm Iraqi Moroccan Israeli Jewish and someone told me to get back to Brooklyn (where I have never been and have never known anyone in). Every single thing I say about my own family experience surviving the massacre is "debunked". You can't debunk my literal life experience lmao. I didn't say one word against Palestinians, I only said the victims of the massacre matter - this is literally all I've said, and I got neverending hate comments.

    @skaly what really saddens me about the times we live in is that there's no middle ground.
    People are either in favour or against, they either belong to a clan or the other.
    No critical thinking, no second degree, it looks like everyone is acting like a social megaphone.
    Frankly there are very few issues for which my own opinion is carved in stone. So I avoid most political debates.
    Once on IG I got many hateful replies for just pointing out that China isn't a democracy. I merely stated a fact.

    @petrescatraian @skaly Personally I don't think it's natural to be biased. It's social conditioning, not something we were born with.
    And many people in real life make the effort to understand a different POV, while on social media everything is just so polarized that it's not even debate. Time 2 seconds and it's personal attacks.

    @paulschoe @skaly When Hitler killed millions the middle ground was brilliantly exposed by Hannah Arendt. And she paid a very high price for this. Massacres are indeed despicable crimes, however the circumstances allowing them to happen may not be so easy to understand.
    And it's exactly when we stop thinking about the possible circumstances, when we just accept that one is evil and the other is a victim, that the critical thinking disappears.

    @AnnaAnthro Well Heartbeat isn't that great TBH. And Death's Game IS very violent, the only I dropped because of the violence (and on Netflix I've seen The Glory, D.P, Bloodhounds, etc, so I'm not hyper-sensitive).

    I'm getting faster but I have to weigh this with a grain of salt because yesterday I took an unplanned rest day. Rest days considerably and positively affect my performance.

    Mmmh, now wondering if I should take 2 consecutive rest days before my 10k race on March 17th.

    Following the South Korean government decision to increase of 3000 the number of students admitted to medicine, 55% of young trainee doctors resigned from their post.

    This massive protest shows that they became doctors just for the money. South Korea has a flourishing plastic surgery market and I suppose that, as long as their license isn't suspended, these resigning doctors can still make a wealthy living.
